Thanks and also Happy New Year to everyone …

Another Hurricane-version for FS2004?
Cheers
…chris (preferring IL2-skins 😉 )
Jules, did you know an almost identical (larger version) photo ended up here? http://www.aeronautics.ru/archive/wwii/photos/gallery_006/B17-Vienna-ack.jpg
(I got the link from Dave Homewood´s B-17-Caption-Competition-Thread.)
I think I can even see the “Y in the Diamond” marking on some B-17s! It seems to be black, but maybe due to the type of film used…? Or had each squadron a diamond in a different color?
Edit: Amazing, about 10 years ago, I built a 72nd scale B-17G model named “2nd Patches” … 99th Bomb Group, Tortorella, Italy …
“Oh no, we´ve lost the “Oversize Load” sign again … Jenkins, go back and find it.”
(PS: She´s disarmed … and the position of the rear guns looks quite strange.)
The guy to the left is my great-granfather Ernst Fastenrath. He constructed and built the plane and also the engine on his own from 1911 to 1913. He flew occasionally near Plettenberg (some 25km south-east of Dortmund), always trying to improve the (ever nameless) airplane. In the end, he upgraded the engine from 3 to 4 cylinder, but crashed the plane soon afterwards. The wings were sold to a friend, who built a new fuselage and continued flying until the outbreak of WWI. The 4-cyl.-engine survived until today and is currently “on loan” as an exhibit to the local flying club.
At the beginning of WWI, my great-grandfather joined the army and ended up due to his experiences in aviation as a airplane-mechanic. During the first stage of the war, he was later tranferred to twin-engined bombers, his work was maintaining the plane of the crew Schroeder (Pilot) / von Richthofen (“Franzer” = Navigator / Observer).
I knew you´d fail … you never had any chance. :p
Okay, if no one has another clue, I´ll solve in 15 minutes.
Ups. Colonel, you´re wrong.
The contra-Spit, is it the one having been gifted to the museum by the king of Thailand/Siam?
Don’t give it away just yet Chris 😉 .
Does that mean, you need more time?
Okay, why not. I shall wait until tomorrow … “Nacht zusammen!”
Scrapyard photo’s? No Problem
🙁
OK, I think I will solve the mistery … at about 20:00 (GMT+1).
Any more clues appreciated.
Glad no one gave up … but still totally WRONG! :p
Ah! Good point.
I’ll keep any eye out for off-topic postings from now on. Any rubbish about Cessnas and Pipers will be deleted instantly.
Okay then, lets talk about Cessna O2s or Piper Enforcers then.
Too easy, just google: Eric+Weiss+Aviation+australia.
First hit.
Yes, it´s a German aviator, but not Etrich.
But everything else is wrong. :diablo:
Next hint: He´s got a connection to Lothar von Richthofen.
Scotty, I use IrfanView to resize them until they are below 100kb.
