Now, had Israel decided this was also a good time to bomb Iran, things might have gotten interesting 😀

Limited number of ACs .. stealthy deep penetration and precise targeting and destruction of Iranian nuclear facility. Where on earth would you get idea that Israel could execute such move ;):D:D

Now, regardless about the other consequences, such as more NATO members, Russia refusing to sell oil to Europe, or anything else we can think up, I wonder if their use of SS-21s with apparent success will lead to more support in Europe and NATO for the missile defense project? It’s overkill for an SRBM like an SS-21, but it is an interesting thought to ponder.

This is an interesting point, but i was under impression that nations like Cz.Rep, Poland and Baltic States were behind MD project already.. and i dont think either will be scared off by this latest little saga.. As for countries like Germany and France which are on the fence about MD.. will use of balistic weapons, though limited change their minds enough to get off the fence… i have no idea… its one of those wait and see…

PS” I’am sure Chinese would with open arms accept any energy resources Russia might divert from EU.. after all lack of those is main reason their economy growth slowed to meager 8.75% this year :rolleyes::p

PSS: Of topic but another area this might have impact on is US election.. id say it will benefit McCain with his whole “ready to lead” approach

    Disagree.

Besides, the Enforcer wasn’t a jet either. If you want a jet Mustang, you’d get something like this…

And we have a winner.. nice one Arthur 😀

I dont think it will affect Indian relations with either West or Russia.. i think Indians will go out of their way to show that they are not siding with anybody.. buying Su30s and flying them to Red Flag sort of underlines the point :p

I also dont think it will affect that much relations with EU members such as France and Germany… UK will be bit more loud and critical but wont set out too far….

Poland, Ukraine, and Baltic states…. this is where there will be most impact.. but Russians were not popular there to begin with…

    What country are you from???

Complicated answer scoot… born in Bosnia.. got kicked out my home by Muslims in 92.. moved to another war zone part of Serbian Bosnia…. lost a brother in 94 and father in 95 in combat.. i was too young (14-15) to fight… in 95-6 after peace was signed moved to Montenegro with my mothers relatives for about 5-6 years.. did my Military service there (even though i was not technically a citizen) which hapend to be as the same time as Allied Force (bad time to be in signals core) … 2000. moved to Ukraine as student, i was hosted by Russian familliy there, whose big mouth son who used name “Flanker” or SuperFlanker or what not, introduced me to these forums… 😛 .. after one year in Ukraine, i moved to Germany and town of Obensdorf for about 9-10 months with some relatives… then came to Australia and graduated as Telecom Engineer in 2002/3.. moved back to Serbia in 2004, than in 2005 came back to Australia after securing work contract… have been here since then… though im not Resident or Citizen.

I do not hold current Serbian, Bosnian, Montenegro or Australian pasport.. last one i have is Jusgoslavian from 99/2000 now expired …. so mate… you tell me.. what country i am from??:confused:

You are talking as NATO is a one nation with one set of goals and interests.. and not an obsolite gathering of nations that in the past have been at each other throats, that are in pursuit of different and often conflicting intersts and its only mater of time before two members end up at each other throats again.. proving how pointless it has become.

Say if Georgia was a NATO member.. and Russians decided to smack them on the nose like they just did.. what do you think NATO reaction would be??

-Military aid in gear and Hardware.. maybe.. would hardly help Georgia .. numbers are just simply against them

-Military confrontation with Russia?? Which NATO member would jump to this one?? US is so over extended in Iraq and Afganistan they are forcing those poor sods to do twice as long tours as they should.. where would they find extra 50,000 troops to send to Georgia??

Maybe Europeans would… laughable .. entire Europe united together had not capability in 99. to deal with Serbia.. they are now going to take action against Russia.. over some pispot country in caucases?? .. dont make me laugh.. In 99. when Russian sent couple BMPs from Bosnia on route to Kosovo and Gen.Clark the supreme comander of NATO told then the British General in Charge of operations , to intercept them and stop them from entering Kosovo… the Brit flatly refused and said “Does Gen.Clark wishes me to start a WW3” or something along those lines.. there is a quote in his biography.

The fact is all NATO can do is huff and puff.. just like all Russia can do on Kosovo is huff and puff… and if Russia tommorrow invaded and NATO member Ukraine (providing they let them join at some point)… again.. Huff and Puff…

Untill one of these directly attacks other… or a very very very close Alie … thats right Huff and Puff… and some hand waving too.. maybe jumping up and down now and again.

I’m sure you realize that the Kremlin doesn’t care about anyone in S.O. or Abkhazia as human beings. The Kremlin only cares because these people are giving Russia an opportunity to establish a foothold south of the Cacusus Mountains (other than Armenia).
    I .

While in Washington tonight US leader are loosing sleep over great concern they have for the well being of Georgians.. and not the least over major Oil pipe line that travels trough the country… or…because these people are giving USA an opportunity to establish a foothold south of the Cacusus Mountains 😉

Just like they care deeply about well being of civilian population in Iraq… of whom 200,000 have been killed since invasion… once again its nothing to do with oil… just deep deep care for this world and its people …care that lives inside every American.

America would never tear apart small state if it suited their own interests (cough kosovo), or overthrow democraticly elected leader and replace him with a puppet dictator (cough Iran cough Shah)

All i can say in the end is.. God bless this land of good, virtue, milk and honey.. God bless

The problem with that is that there is basically zero chance of Russia stopping selling to Iran and Syria. There is no real reason to appease Russia, especially since they don’t do anything that either the US or Israel would want anyway. Appeasing them would only reinforce the idea that they can do whatever they want. As such, Israel may as well sell whatever they can to Georgia; same with the US!

Actually in an agreement with Israel Russia has taken off the table some of the equipment Israels neighbors have requested.. Israel would not be worried that much about Pantsyrs or even Squadron or Two of Fighter jets… Integrated S300/Tor AD system on the other hand…. Same goes for Iran.. US has been doing its best to convince Russia not to sell them advanced SAMS and Anti Ship missiles…

You seam to have lost the plot mate… it was Not Russia that used Olympics as cover… it was Georgia.

Sakashvili ordered his toops into Osetia gambling that he could produce quick victory and with world distracted by Olympics and belief that NATO will give him more of a backing, that Russia wont get involved.

His gamble turned out snake ayes unfortunately for him…

Buddha, no need for tac-pods when you have F-22’s flying stealth overhead monitoring it all on their scanners.

…maybe we have a reason here why the radars will be disabled :diablo::diablo::p

I wonder where Russia will stop? Will Ukraine annoy Mr Putin enough to send in the tanks now that he see’s he can get away with it?

If pro West part of Ukraine starts shelling pro Russian part… and treating them as second class citizens… maybe…

Ill remind you that goverment in Ukraine is split along national/religios lines about 45-55% … with 45% population more less considering them self Russian, and 55% not , or even closer to Polish. There is also Catholic/Ortodox split. So the rethoric coming out of Ukraine is hardly representative of 100% of population.

Is it fair of NATO to fast track Ukraine into membership, on a whim of Minority government when 45% of its own population is against it ??
