I know that very well my friend and i should know better than making such genaralizations about 300 million people… just as other people should know better.

Acting like worlds police definitely has its risks… every now and then you will end up producing Rodney King type incident since not all cops are nice people 😉

Ah yes…..Russia invades a small country. Blame the US.

Not blaming US, just pointing that it seams every year or two US invades small countries for even more dubious reasons.

I mean am i the only person here who sees it as hypocritical that two months after recognising unilateral succesion of Kosovo from another “small soverign and yes for the last 5 years Truly Democratic Country” and 10 years from using 1000+ aircraft to drop millions of kilos of ordinance, including littering the place with Radioactive depleated uranium, bombing bridges , TV stations , Refineries, Factories and Appartments…. US and NATO all of sudden take compleate reversal on exactly the same issue… only difference being that compared to Allied Force Russian “disproportionate” interventions looks like a girl scout fight.

Your ignorance is just astonishing. Then again considering that you people elected as leader person with total IQ of dead ameba.. maybe i should not be as shocked.

PS: FYI, i personally fully agree with Georgias claim over those provinces just as i belive Kosovo should have never been ripped apart from its rightfull owner… i at least show some consistency on these issues.

Interesting. A full scale invasion of Georgia…..not planned in advance at all……and its Georgia”s fault? They made the SAME mistake Poland made when they attacked Germany in 1939 compelling the weremacht to strike back. Stupid Georgians! This will show them! Hmmmm…..maybe Poland could be next/ No….Ukrain is more of a problem to Russia than Poland right now.

Whoa there soldier boy… comparison to nazi germany might be just tad out of place here… since i dont remember Polish ever shelling the crap out native Germans there.

By your logic Nato operations in 99 could be compared to 1941 Luftwaffe bombing of Belgrade??? And how is US invasion of Afganistan different from USSR invasion.. as far as i remember in both cases goal was to support minority regime against islamic one, and as much as you wish to deny on both casses the Taliban/Islamic regime IS the regime that majority of Afganis would willingly accept.

.. appologies for getting side tracked there… but trips down the memory lane to 1939 are not much more on topic are they now???

I have a feeling Gori is as opportunistic as Russians are going to be… and is all they in truth could possibly want… as someone mention the pipeline goes right trough it.. btw its reportedly accounting for 1% of global oil.

With my Skyline GTR arriving soon.. this makes me a very angry puppy … i feel like im getting bent over every time i grab that pump handle.:mad:

Ive seen one with a kill drawn in the shape of witch sitting on a broom stick. :diablo:

On topic, i tend to agree with asumptions this was not a overly planned Russian invasion, if we think back to invasion of Afganistan, you can see comparisons. Soviets then protuced masses of most modern, spotlesly clean and freshly painted armor they had.. looked like a may day parade that went horribly off course.

Now we are seeing very few AC in the air (though this could be as someone mentioned due to terain and SAM threats) and rather dated ground kit.. but that said some of the infantry units there are well capable of dealing with the issue on their own.

As SOC stated.. i think Sakashvili made an Ooops moment.. with Russians now reportedly pushing towards Gori, and other towns.. he seriously misscalculated Putins reaction.

PS: Just a personal off topic oppinion (i appologise to mods) that footage of Sakashvili and his bodyguard “bravely dodging incoming bombers” is a load of PR bs.. that guy is probably the safest Georgian in the country now.

PSS: is TomC still arround?? Back in the 99 his five pages long opinions and insights situations like this were my fav reads 😛

so you can name one incident out of potentially tens of thousands where a PGM has failed? This dosnt help your case that PGMs are a mere 50% effective. I want hundreds of references of PGMs going amiss if i’m to believe that ‘statistic’… What difference does it matter how advanced the target county is either? Iraq had GPS jammers from Russia, they got JDAM’d, shouldn’t matter if the PGM users are bombing a bronze age or space age country, the results will be the same.

It makes huge difference… the reason NATO had such miserable hit rates on Serbian military targets.. even with use og GPS/Laser munitions… is that they were forced above 5,500 cealing… due to SAM threat… Hence they switched to civilian targets … and Chinese Embasies 😛 … now imagine if Serbs actually had a capable AA network instead of obsolite collection of Soviet junk. 😉

PS.. what does Sadam Hussein has to do with argument about Kosovo – Ossetia paralels ????

Whoah, did i read that right and you think PGMs are lucky to hit fifty percent of the time?

Under proper combat conditions, and not when bombing a Bronze age country back to stone age.. under perfect conditions.. yes 50% is good number.

Just have look at an interesting incident in Afganistan when some 500 taliban fighters broke out of jail and US special forces called a PGM strike… and all 7-8 ordinance missed because of cloud cover..
