    A330Crazy Is this a brand new A340

Its the “old” A340 which flies from Bahrain via Abu Dhabi and sometimes Muscat. The other A340 which is seen alot flying into LHR is the a/c with the blue 50 year c/s

I like how they painted the engine cowlings, are the A330’s like this?

Yes the cowlings are painted the same. It makes a brilliant contrast.

This is the c/s for the new Gulf-Traveller

I am flying to Bahrain this Wednesday 18th with GulfAir on A330 for a long weekend, hopefully I will get to go in the cockpit as my g/f is the in-flight chef on the flight and she knows the pilot. I will post the pics if it happens.
In October I am flying to Singapore via Bahrain, again with GulfAir for my 30th B/day
Not really this summer, although I have not long booked it…. My main holiday this year is to the Maldives, flying with Emirates on B777 via Dubai. I am really looking forward to it as the B777 is probably my favourite a/c (and A340), and to top it off the 20 mins transfer to the island is by seaplane. Again the pics will be posted.

I replied to a post a few weeks ago about this gulf air A340-300 flying to Dublin to get the new c/s.
It flies to LHR via Abu Dhabi to Bahrain. I flew back from Bahrain the other week and the A330 in this c/s flew the Muscat – LHR route. Im going back to BAH on this Wednesday’s night flight and coming home on Sunday’s flight, getting back to LHR at 6.30am.

There are so many phones to choose from at the end of the day its totally up to you. Web access is one of the main selling points as with cameras

I used to be a ‘Nokia Nut’ but things changed when I went to update my old 8310. Ive now got a free Sharp GX1 on O2. Its got a built in camera (not brilliant but OK) good graphics and sounds. Going from nokia to sharp made the menu screen fiddly but Ive got used to it now. I still have a works 3410 and when i put them side by side the 3410 looks so dated.
This is just my personal view

    Excellent topic

As a keen Rugby player I have to say my favourite ‘pub’ drink has to be “Guinness”, it seems to wipe away all the stud marks and black eyes in just a few pints.
At home my misses is kind enough to drown my sore bits with wine, white or red. My fav wine has to be the Italian “Marc Xero” again this can be found in the white or sun-burnt guise, very smooth.
I recently returned from Estonia and I got some duty-free’s including a 80% proof vodka! but the tipple I am enjoying most from there is a “Honey Liqueur” although my misses doesnt share my passion with it as when she was home last I drank almost half the bottle and told her about my un-dieing love for Julia Roberts!! I still cant remember if it was the drink or her that made me fall out of bed.

    Alex,
In any of the forces you can never be fit enough. working on a 3 – 4 month regime now will always help.
First start running, road then off-road. The beep test works but you do it in the gym, where its hot and you aint got any wind working against you. If it was as easy as always running indoors then running on tread mills is ideal. But you would be knackered as soon as you tried running in the elements.
After you feel comfitable running 4-5 miles outside try running with some weight. You will be expected to carry a bergen and weapon across roads, fields and hills. Buy a ruck-sack or similar and put weights in like wrapped up bricks or big bottles of water, but make sure they are secure and dont jump about too much as you run.
If you aint used to them, start press-ups now. Do 10 then rest for a minute, do another 10 then rest for 50 secs, another 10 then 40 secs rest etc. After a few weeks of counting down to the last 10 secs rest you feel you can do 100 straight off. Honestly mate its easy and you soon notice how fit you become. When in training you will also be one of the fittest!
Practice pull-ups where you can, ie down the local park or any metal frame. If you can do 10 easerly then you will pass the BFT no probs. The NCO’s will always push you so if you can do 10, push for 20….. always aim that little bit more.
    Good luck
