Perhaps more will be required, but as a member of Lincolnshire’s Lancaster Association I am proud of the contributions that the Association has already made to the BBMF and other aviation groups.

I guess that individuals will just have to decide whether they prefer to support a registered charity or a private enterprise.

Thank you for the feedback Binbrook 01 – I obviously need to refine my late night search phrases!

Sad to see an airframe depart from the county, but on the bright side at least it wasn’t included in the latest aviation publication that will be going to the printers in the coming weeks!

The Aeroboot / Aerojumble details have been updated in here and following another flurry of bookings there are only 5 spaces left i.e. 43 of the 48 tables have now been allocated! 🙂

Thanks Rich for this info and the PM. I’m sure that a copy of the original article is in the aircraft file at NAM – if not we should have the magazine in the Library / Archive.

Thanks Rob, if it’s the same ‘bird’ no guesses where it might be heading!

If no other information is forthcoming I may have to brave the chaos of the ‘Nottingham White Elephant’ (sorry tram works) and check out Chetwynd Barracks myself. (Just out of curiosity of course!!) 🙂

Not really a speed issue, just a bit ‘clunky’ sometimes – don’t believe it’s water related as we’ve just paid our water rates, so we should be OK!! 😀

The occasional forum ‘hang-ups’ that sometime occur here seem to be advert related. Looking at some of the forum adverts that come in on this PC seem to not just be search related, but also browsing related.

Note to self, stop looking at any threads about Spitfires because you don’t really want a Spitfire Egg Chair!!

As a casual observation it also tends to be worse first thing in the morning and when I’m not logged in.

This anniversary mention is doing the rounds elsewhere – 7th February 1983 saw Vulcan XM594 flown in to Winthorpe Airfield to join Newark Air Museum.

Details of how it came together can be found here – an illustrated talk on the same topic will be given at the V-Force event on Sunday 18th May 2014.

Guess who’s giving the talk? If anyone else wants to give a talk on anything V-Force related please let me know!

As for the anniversary, 31 years ago today it was a lot colder in this part of Nottinghamshire, with snow on the ground!

Morning 12jaguar, in view of the current condition of the cockpit area I would think that any drawings would be of great assistance – the work involved is certainly of a similar scope to your group’s excellent Stirling cockpit build! 🙂

mike1275 – another nice Ashton photograph, which is similar to the illusive Rolls-Royce Hucknall images, which NAM has yet to get uploaded onto its website.

David – thank you for providing the additional information, I’ll ask the curator to find a copy in the NAM Archive.

Peter – thanks for the comments; like you I was shocked. I only found out how bad it was when I made arrangements for a forumite to go inside to take some photographs.

Air Ministry – despite what you might think I haven’t forgotten you either and I’m really looking forward to the Aeroboot on March 1st!!

John, I believe that we may have parts of the AP but perhaps not all of the relevant sections; that is where the cockpit layout schematic came from that’s in the NAM gallery.

We do have the possibility of some drawings being available via the Shackleton team at Coventry.
