The link in #2 opens OK on my system here in the UK.
As for the OP’s question I’ll have a word at NAM to see whether they have any Air Pictorials coming through this scheme http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/newsItem.php?id=716 😉
I’m pleased to have been of some assistance.
His name had cropped up several times in the last few years in the local press, but I never had the privilege of meeting him.
He was one of the people that I tried to establish contact with the other year on behalf of the BBC, when they were putting together the TV news items on the first Thousand Bomber Raid and subsequently the Bomber Command Memorial Dedication.
A couple of updates have been added in here today – one details some small progress in the ‘Project Panini’ fund raising effort (good news as a site meeting was held earlier today with a local architect practice) 😉 and the other advises that the Airfix Lightning F.2A’s have arrived!
Prompted by the Wright Brothers anniversary thread I’ve asked that a photograph be added in here http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/gallery.php – this is from 17th December 2003 (10 years ago today) when the first section of steelwork was erected on NAM’s Hangar 2 – where did that time go? 😮
I’m not sure whether I’ve seen the following item (from 2002) before but it contains some interesting comments re timepieces and the aviation sector http://www.hse.gov.uk/radiation/rpnews/rpa21.htm#a11
Possibly pre-exemption!
I believe there is an exemption for clocks and watches, yes.
My understanding as referenced back in 2010 under post #25 in here http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=97355&highlight=health was – “… is that previously exempt ‘sectors’ might also be coming under the spotlight again.”
I’m not certain whether that has happened
For organisations in the UK (including museums) the following link explains your obligations http://www.radman.co.uk/resources/IRR99-ionising-radiation-regulations.aspx and how to comply with the legislation.
For individuals I’m not sure how the legislation is being applied; however I agree with Bruce’s comment in #33 – plus as soon as you start paying someone to undertake such proposed ‘clean-ups’ the IRR99 regulations will apply.
Thank you for highlighting this obituary – the link for which has now been circulated to several people at Newark Air Museum.
Air Commodore Merriman briefly held the honorary position of President of the museum in the mid-1970s and I met him on a couple of occasions; ‘blue skies sir!’
That first image is so evocative Brian – a perfect winter’s day!
The CD arrived by the way many thanks – now in the NAM Archive!! 🙂
Not sure of the construction date for these ones at RAF Winthorpe, but the design is different http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/newsItem.php?id=728 – possibly late World War II or just after.
You could try investing in some Spitfires ……………!!

Confirmation of NAM’s Christmas Holiday opening hours have been added in here this morning!
Also, according to my research into the ED583 crash at North Thoresby there were 8 crew members killed (as commemorated on the mosaic memorial) – not just the 7 listed on one of the parts labels!
I’ve just noticed that a couple of albums from the 2013 event can still be seen in the Gallery section of the NAM website!
A quick check of my files provides a few links to be going on with, these are in no particular order and are from previous outings on this topic:
