Late last night I emailed one of the guys working on the AOP.9 to request an update and ‘missing parts status check’, as and when I get a reply I’ll post an update.

When I was there yesterday it was sat quietly alongside the Jaguar cockpit, which was heaving with visitors. August has gone really crazy for visitors and there were lots of youngsters on site, with their parents and grandparents and most were doing the Fuel Tank Trail – this has been featured on the BBC Things To Do website and the Internet traffic to the museum website has gone through the roof, which in turn seems to be bringing in the visitors! Long may it continue!!

…As for aircraft parts, I have collected a few from the Kinloss/Findhorn area and,so far,I am not glowing in the dark!

Have you had the parts checked for possible contamination then?

The post has just arrived this morning, which contained a complimentary copy of the September 2013 edition of Airfix Model World – thank you Mr Sands!

In the Out and About section, page 78, is a write-up about Cockpit-Fest 2013 – thanks to those who wrote and featured the event.

The event was also mentioned in the Experience History Blog!

I’m just about to start the write-up in NAM’s next Dispersal newsletter and will compile the 2013 displays for Hangar 2 during the next few weeks!!

Addendum: the Cockpit-Fest results are also featured in Pilot Magazine – August 2013 and FlyPast – September 2013.

Details of the Autumn Aviation Book, Die-Cast & Model Sale have now been added in to the usual place!

The date for the sale is Saturday 7th September 2013 from 10am until 5pm and a special admission deal is on offer for people that just wish to attend the sale!

Anyone visiting NAM in August with children or grandchildren can take part in the free to enter ‘Fuel Tank Trail’ as detailed in here!

I’m also hearing whispers of a Book & Kit Sale in early September 2013, although so far no details have reached the website, Saturday 7th September seems to be a likely date!

A couple of updates have been added in here on the NAM website – this includes a brief progress report on the Hastings repaint; please remember that the museum is still looking for Log Book entries for this and several other airframes.

As a slight cross post – the Viggen is still outside and as far as I’m aware there has been no date fixed for it to return inside!

It was good to read a bit more about Douglas Percy Cannings DFM in Chris Keltie’s book, which was my main holiday reading during my recent USA trip!!
