That’s a shame – hopefully you’ll feel that it’s worth the wait! :eagerness:

    Sad news, indeed.
My local branches (Nottingham and Derby) have very helpful, knowledgeable staff. Two of the assistants in the Nottingham branch know me by name…

    Following TO23‘s shameless plug (;) ), a shameless endorsement from yours truly…
A few years ago, while passing, I called in to NAM. After a quick browse, I left with a 1:72 Convair B-36 under my arm. Bargain at £35.

    [Pedant Mode ON]

    Shouldn’t that be “elusive”? :p

You’re quite right about elusive – I spotted it myself whilst preparing something for one of the Useful Information listings in here! It has now been added to the list of alts for when the long-overdue website update is completed!! 😉

Glad I achieved a result re your purchase – all the support we can secure ultimately benefits the collection! I’m told that yesterday some of the ‘Airshow Returnees’ had retained some funds to make a few purchases as well. 😎

On the downside apparently the Herpa Wings 1/500th scale civil aircraft items on a well-known Internet auction site aren’t attracting much interest – you win some you lose some!

…….Knowing the width and depth of knowledge displayed by forum members, I am more than a little surprised that no one has ventured any destination/current whereabouts for BAPC.68 which was on display with the Midland Aviation Museum at Coventry for a number of years, last known marked H3426. Surely someone knows where this this went when it left Coventry?…..

Where’s Mr Smith when you need him?

NAM’s already had the first visitors who have given up trying to get into the Waddington Airshow; apparently there’re also travel issues around Newark (A1/A46/A17 junction & in Newark itself), which has caused some passenger delays for the Airshow Helicopter Shuttles that are operating from NAM (people stuck in traffic were late arriving etc.), however everyone has now been safely flown out to Waddington.

NAM is on extended opening from 0800 hours to 1900 hours today and tomorrow.

Not complete either. Despite being a BAPC member, the CBFS Hurricane L1639 isn’t in there.

    This would be a Type 7 🙂

IIRC it was up to groups to submit amendments etc. for the listings.

At least the information is now where it should be – in the public domain!

Apologies for potential thread creep, but could any guidance be sought from the National Aviation Heritage Register (NAHR), which is now online and searchable?

Are you still in need of letters of support / signatures etc.?

Before any ‘Phantom phans’ start to get twitchy the cockpit XV490 is going out on temporary loan to Waddington Airshow – due to leave NAM early on Friday and will return on Monday!

We’d hate to start any further Phantom related panics about these parts! 😉

Here’s the latest news from the NAM Website on the ‘splintered wonder’!

“Update 02.07.13 Following a meeting of the museum trustees this morning it seems likely that the Viggen will remain outside until at least the end of this month. Potential events involving the Viggen are being actively investigated and details of these will be announced as and when they are finalised.”

Next weekend NAM will be operating under extended opening hours to accommodate Waddington Airshow Helicopter Shuttles – more details in here!

A good opportunity to see the Viggen in the open air!! :applause:

You could try asking via this website http://www.vforcereunion.co.uk/ IIRC in 2010 & 2012 details were being discussed at the reunion event at NAM.
