There is also a flypast in Woodhall Spa on the evening of Wednesday 15th May as part of the ‘fund riaser’ at the Kinema / Petwood.

One question I’ve often wondered is how many per 100 series Hercules engines still exist? There are plenty of surviving late model engines around but these are quite different beasts to the pre 100 series engines.

According to the 2003 list re Hercules 100 series:

100 – 3
106 – 1 + 8 in Hastings aircraft
130 – 1

Some earlier Mks were also noted!

I have dealt with the applications for three flypasts this year with details confirmed as listed in here! For the first event on 18th May I have already had discussions with the Flight over possible timing, direction of flypast etc. – but it’s still not on ‘the official list’.

On the paperwork you are now told to notify Northolt of your event weblinks etc. and they will then update the listings.

Re the Dambusters commemorations I understand there are Lancaster / 2 Tornado flypasts at Woodhall Spa – May 15th and Lincoln Cathedral – May 17th , which also don’t seem to feature on the lists.

Plus I’m just off to a ‘kick-off meeting’ with the County Council re their latest grant allocation to NAM – more details will follow about these parts in due course!!

Wulfie, I’m sorry to hear that my emailed request came to nothing – at least we tried. The only minor positive is that the guys working on the Auster AOP.9 now won’t need to be disturbed if the weather forecast of wall to wall sunshine that weekend was wrong and the Overstrand needed to move into Hangar 1.

Great news about the Defiant though!!! 😉
