Fingers crossed for a good ‘flight’!

One quick question though – do you know whether the RAF have requested a ‘drop clause’ in the lift agreement? Just curious whether the protocols have changed in the last five years or so; you never know when you might require a similar service!!

repcobrab – last night I undertook a speaking engagement for a Local History Group at Laxton and the topic of the Boughton Depot came up in the Q & A session – if you’re still interested in this site perhaps you could send me a PM or email!

P.S. found the thread with the forum search facility with one hit – great news! πŸ™‚

If you’re into amateur radio / QSL Cards the new object of the week in here may be of interest; it features a cartoon depiction of the Shackleton and Varsity aircraft at NAM.

Thanks Twin Otter for answering a query.
In 1965-6 I lived in the AMQ at RAF Manby . I can remember seeing the Lancaster fuselage section being used for building work outside the main gates. I can remember peering inside it was in very good condition and used as a bad weather shelter and tool store. I presume the owner was Peter Pumfrey and always wondered how it survived.

Pleased to have been of assistance! πŸ™‚

Likewise you’ve added to my knowledge on the fuselage section, the story always told at Newark is that it had been used as a garden shed; however your description seems much more fitting.

Have you downloaded the East Lindsey Aviation Trail? It features Manby and the fuselage is mentioned – if not I would be able to email you a PDF file if you PM me a working email address!

The 40th Anniversary news items have now been moved from the NAM website and some fresh news items will start to appear throughout this week on a range of topics, events and information requests. πŸ™‚

Already online for the start of the week on the news page are a brief thank you for all of the Anniversary event support and details of a memorial dedication at NAM on Sunday 21st April, in memory of two airmen killed in an Avro Tutor crash on Langford Moor in April 1941.
