The best ‘moment’ I’ve encountered during recent visits (November 2012) was when an 8 year old boy, stood in the doorway of the Wessex helicopter at NAM and shouted – “I’m a celebrity get me out of here!”

Both his teacher and me were very surprised – me especially because he nearly perforated my ear drum with the loudness of the shout!

“Darn it!!!” – I knew that NAM could have moved one like that after the air show at RAF Waddington! :diablo:

Good teaching will always produce good results.

My problem, if I understand the proposed curriculum changes correctly, is that primary-school children wouldn’t be allowed to be taught much of that in future!

That’s about the sum of it – sadly the older they become i.e. when they move up to Secondary School the Curriculum becomes so full they rarely venture out on visits!

Utter madness, especially when so much has been invested all over the country in recent times to cater for Primary School aged young people!! 🙁

Still, I’m now an Artsaward Advisor so everything might be alright!!!

Current leads include possible relatives in Ayrshire (an active potential contact is already underway there); plus another possible lead in Devon.

At the time of my OP the response format was very open; however by the end of March the response mechanism had become much more prescriptive, with lots of questions. At the end of the submission process you can still ‘have your say!’

One side effect of Baroness Thatcher’s passing is that most MPs have returned early, so hopefully the lobbying side of my response will get some attention slightly earlier than anticipated.

…..I can tell you from bitter experience as a part time teacher of Anglo Saxon Jutish history (200 AD – 1100AD) that in the view of the left wing educationalists, English History does not/should not exist. The only permitted history is British history of recent times say, 20th century, because then by including reference to the Empire Windrush it is possible to make history inclusive and multi racial which in the view of contemporary left wing educationalists is the only allowable form….

:confused: I must be missing something here, as posted on the other thread:

“Under the proposed curriculum changes 18th, 19th, and 20th century history (including the First and Second World Wars) would no longer be covered in primary schools at Key Stage 2. Instead these would form part of Key Stage 3 taught at secondary school level.”

So it is being taught at present (I deliver such education activities for History of Flight; World War II; Evacuation etc.) and under the proposed changes that could be stopped!!

Having read the proposals in depth and commented; quite frankly some of it makes you want to weep! 😡

Would a current photo of the NAM display material assist in any way?

I won’t be able to get it until Sunday though!

Also I’m not sure whether there might be something in the Nev Franklin Archive at NAM from the crash site / recovery.
