Nice to see the ‘message’ being spread far and wide – I’ll be hoping for more of the same from yesterday’s commemorations at Kirton in Lindsey! 😉

That’s the one – I understand that it may have found its way to the museum via one of the survey teams that worked on the project to turn the Newark to Lincoln section of the A46 into a dual-carriage way! 🙂

Like many things perhaps in life there’s a certain karma connected to road signs – since that work was completed the museum’s had more problems with brown and white direction signs that you’d care to shake stick at! The current signage issues are still unresolved and are now in the hands to the Highways Agency appointed contractor for that section of the road – apologies to anyone who gets lost on the A46!! 😮

Just back from a tour round several memorial sites in Lincolnshire and tonight’s Eagle Squadron lecture at Kirton in Lindsey, so sorry for a slightly delayed response.

Sorry about the ladder by the Viggen, I believe they’ve been doing some cockpit viewings on the mighty Saab and it obviously hasn’t been moved away. 😮

The Ashton has been having some work done to make it moveable as referred to in here with a couple of photos in one of the albums in here! Sadly internally it is pretty much just a gutted shell, I secured access to the airframe for a forumite the other year and they posted the photos – but sadly my searches have again proved futile – and sorry but currently it isn’t planned for it to go inside!

As for the Hastings, although not reported anywhere I do know that some de-corrosion work and re-panelling work is underway on the underside of the airframe centre section and inner wings. The paintwork has been discussed about these parts in the past and the algae problem on the upper surfaces is mainly due to the micro-climate that exits around the trees on that part of the site. In a few weeks’ time this may change as some of the trees are due to be removed and hopefully some additional repainting work can then be done of the upper surfaces of TG517.

Thanks for paying us a visit and hopefully things will have moved forward when you visit the museum next time! 🙂
