The neighbouring Showground has a couple of events coming up over the next few weeks, starting 28.07.12 – so if you’re planning a visit to NAM it might be worthwhile checking out a few access details in here!

Like all hazardous materials they need to be treated with respect and in accordance with the relevant legislation that is in force at the time; this can and does change. The licensing arrangements that organisations are currently subjected to have changed slightly in recent months and the best advice should always be sought from a suitably qualified RPA or similar company – I have posted details of such companies about these parts in the past.

I am not sure it’s entirely correct to say that museums do not allow the general public to enter and sit in the cockpits of exhibits. There are exceptions. I took my son to an open cockpits evening at Cosford back in the summer and we were able to take a look in several of the aircraft (admittedly mainly, though not solely, the larger types).

After an appropriate risk assessment lots of museums allow access to cockpits! 🙂

It may depend on where it’s coming from i.e. whether it makes it to the UK.

On the export front I’m aware of people having issues exporting from the UK and as Bruce posted about these parts – having to collect items from Heathrow rather than face a large bill.

Several of the boards in this display explain some of the ‘civilian’ and micro-UAV uses!! 🙂 Some nice Shackleton items on there as well!! (i.e. on the link!)

It’s still on display and the touch screen monitor was recently replaced!

No doubt we’ll have the ‘civil liberties brigade’ on our case again!! :rolleyes:

Details of a classic car run finishing at the museum on Sunday 29th July 2012, have been detailed on the News Page of the museum website.

There might be a BBMF flypast during the late afternoon – although it doesn’t appear on the usual spread-sheet! So it’s best described as unconfirmed!!

Thanks for the heads-up , do you know what happened to the St Vincents 5 Group HQ museum articles ?

I have been advised that the St Vincents items were catalogued and put into store when the museum originally closed.

My understanding is that they may eventually go back on display in the recently re-opened museum. I notice that St Vincents and an aircrew seems to feature in the banner portion of the museum’s website. 🙂

However, I expect that he will tell me that they have a shop full and anyway, the sexist brigade will swing into action should anything like a scantily clad young lady hove into view.:(

To be honest I’m not sure about the St.Vincents items; I cannot see them mentioned on their website http://www.granthammuseum.org.uk/

After a busy few weeks I’ve finally found a bit of time to look at my ‘To Do List’ and I see that I have not yet circulated the Cockpit-Fest 2012 Group Photo – sorry! 😮

With that in mind would people prefer to receive a printed version, or would the ‘masses’ be happy with me emailing out a JPG file – a bit of feedback would be appreciated so I can decide what’s best to do; thanks in advance!

A couple of late afternoon updates have been added to the NAM News Page about the autumn Aeroboot and some new kits in stock in the Museum Shop.
