A little food for thought.

Using my own two previous example editions I had a quick look at Newark Air Museum’s (NAM) entries:

7th edition (1980) 18 items listed of which 2 have moved on (Proctor & Sycamore) and to my knowledge at least the Sycamore is still in preservation.

23rd edition (2012) 90 items listed.

I guess the first NAM W & R entry would have been with the Westland Wallace in 1963 /5.

Another way groups can engage with young people is through the Scouts. 😉

I’ve just cut 4 CDs (worksheets & presentations) to help several Scout / Cub Troops undertake their Scout Activity badges in:
Aeronautics
Air Researcher
Air Spotter
Aviation Skills [Basic & Advanced]

IMHO they’re still hugely relevant and to quote the last OC BBMF about the LLA fund raising efforts for TE311 (Spring 2012 LLA magazine)… “Your contribution to her resurrection has been nothing short of remarkable!”

What, to do amongst other things like raising £100k + that the LLA has contributed towards Spitfire TE311 in recent years?

A little food for thought and perhaps a bit of a guide!

The current edition (23rd) runs to 334 pages.

The oldest copy I have in my library is the 7th edition dated 1980, which has 150 pages.

The current edition is properly typeset, as opposed to the typed format in 1980 and I would suggest at a rough guess the coverage indicates well over a doubling of the number of preserved airframes.

I’ve been reminded by an off-board conversation this afternoon, that on the Saturday of Newark’s V-Force Reunion event in April that a mini-cam was installed on the flight-deck of Vulcan XM594 to record visitor and former-crew conversations and anecdotes – I wonder how much of this will make it into the programmes?
