Just back from Newark where I received an update about the forthcoming Aeroboot event that runs alongside Cockpit-Fest on June 18th & 19th, which is looking good!

Around 20 pitches have been booked across the two day event, with Saturday again looking to be the busier day. As usual we anticipate that some additional trading will be done around the Cockpit-Fest displays. 😉

As previously mentioned we are pleased to welcome several first timers who have booked their pitches, you can find booking details here and please remember that you have to book in advance if you wish to sell at the event as there’re no pitches available on the day!

Also I will be fulfilling some more Nottinghamshire Aviation booklet requests this evening!! 🙂

My understanding of the Lightning paint situation is that it’s not a matter of “could not” but it is rather – not preferred!

All airframe painting at Newark is hand applied by roller; experience has found that the worst colour for application by this method is silver – albeit they made a good job on the lower surfaces of the Dove.

Couple this to the fact that Lightnings were never painted silver then the ‘paint police’ would be after them. Personally I liked what was achieved on the FAST Lightning and I championed a similar approach – however the majority vote went for alternative options and in this democratic world I went along with the majority.

In recent weeks there has been some interesting contacts and lobbying from within the wider aviation community for the following Squadrons that XS417 served with 11, 23, 56 and LTF – but still a final decision has not been made!
