…The problem with preservation in this Country is, it has to be a crowd puller to get preserved so it can bring in the readies. So, unless your a spitfire or a hurricane, you aint got a hope in hell.

I think that’s a rather simplistic view that doesn’t give credit to a lot of hard work by hundreds or even thousands of people! 🙁

Sadly we’re struggling for suitable pictures from the NAM Archive. Unfortunately I’m not sure where in the Archive all of the pictures went from the second book ‘Dedication To Duty’, which does have a couple of ‘loaded’ pictures in it – more investigation work required I’m afraid! 😮

If you can give me a reasonable ‘heads-up’ of any visit I’ll try and get over, the more notice the better as I’ve got a fairly hectic couple of months ahead!

Would it help proceedings if I checked whether the NAM Archive has any photographs of the loaded lorries from 1977 and if they do, try and get some more pictures uploaded?

Great pictures!

I can recommend the books on WR977 (Duty Carried Out, and Dedication to Duty), they are a good read and one covers the move in some detail.

If you find yourself going down a MR.3 Phase 3 route let me know and I’ll try and rustle up an album on the NAM website from the Finningley move in 1977.

Also depending on the amount of internal fit you might need to allow more dismantling time – to allow access to the joints!

Also I can report some positive discussions regarding the possible provision of trophies for the event – more details will be released once confirmed!

I was over at NAM yesterday to show someone in the Shackleton, when someone showed me the magazine.

So having mussed at some of the ‘pro and anti’ comments about caravans and their owners in the ‘General Discussion’ area of the forum I thought that it would be a legitimate question!

Thanks for the website comments; but as for “unashamed PR efforts” – I couldn’t possibly comment!! 😉

Addendum: I almost forgot to mention that my Shackleton visitor told me that a wintery WR977 would ‘herself’ be a ‘cover pinup’ on the next edition of the Growler!!

Indoor Aeroboot – 12 March 2011

A further status update has been added to the NAM website about the March 12th Indoor Aeroboot event; at which 45 table have now been sold – only 3 left the sell for a total sell-out!! 🙂

Also details have been posted on the website about a major model / die-cast bequest to the museum that will start to be sold off during the Indoor Aeroboot March 12th.
