Brief Update – 21.06.10
The last week or so has been pretty manic trying to get the weekend’s Aeroboot sorted out and providing some input into what seems to be turning into one of the best Cockpit-Fest’s ever, certainly judging by the number of visitors. 🙂
This ‘manic activity’ has seen some other exciting news settle onto the back burner. Over the coming days I will try to feed through further detailed updates but the following brief resumes may whet your appetites!
On Tuesday 15th June the museum’s education DVD “The History of Aviation in Nottinghamshire” was formally launched and promptly won an award. The DVD was funded by a grant from the Nottinghamshire County Council under their Local Improvement Scheme initiative; and copies have now been sent to schools and libraries across the county. More details will appear on the museum website later this week.
Yesterday, amongst the excitement of Cockpit-Fest & Aeroboot the museum was presented with a propeller blade from a 622 Squadron Short Stirling EJ113, which crashed in France in November 1943. The presentation was made by 866 (Immingham) Squadron ATC, who were asked to return the propeller to England by the Mayor and residents of Bussy Le Chateau in France. Again, further details will appear on the museum website later this week.
Finally for now (I must get on with some work), 866 (Immingham) Squadron ATC were also selling their new book at the museum yesterday “The Battle of Britain over Lincolnshire”. This has been co-written with local author Molly Burkett and copies can be obtained from the Museum Shop; guess what, further details will appear on the museum website later this week.
