Thanks for posting the revised comments merkle! 🙂
I have also worked with various isotopes, hence my cautious and considered approach.
Merkle has also posted on this topic before; sadly my searches cannot find his or my previous comments.
They did however throw up some other interesting threads like this one http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=66015&highlight=Radiation
I hope he wears his film badge or dosimeter whilst working on his cockpit projects!
Ultimately the aim is to help event participants and restoration projects / groups identify and hopefully secure any missing parts ….. whether or not the notification process will be continued is subject to a post-event review by NAM!
Joey, its up to you mate, like i said, Radium, is Dangerous, when ingested,
the simple word Radiation sends people into a blind panic, because they cant see it, smell it or taste it,
Ive been working and trained with radiation , and I am qaulified for my job, to a high level, and its been my proffesion most of my working life,
so i do know what i am talking about, but i suppose the safest way to insure you recieve no contamination is to not have them at all, (instruments) but i really cant see what all the fuss is about..:)
😮 Despite your ‘qualifications’ I don’t think that you understand the real picture; a partial re-post from one of the other threads might help …..
“10 years ago, at the time of the change from IRR85 to IRR99 the following http://www.hse.gov.uk/radiation/rpnews/rpa18.htm details a prosecution of the Science Museum; whilst this link http://www.hse.gov.uk/radiation/rpnews/rpa19.htm details a prosecution of the Natural History Museum”
Also what do you think is being talked about in posts #354 to #357 here http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=90313&page=12
The issue is a ‘live one’ that could affect us all!
….. I see that the cockpitfest list is woefully out of date!!
 Nothing through from the ‘Master Bill’ – I think that he’s V-Forcing too much!! 😀
As per the various threads on this topic it is a genuine issue of concern, with legislation in place and it will NOT go away due to comments like this; perhaps a search of the forum might help, here’s a couple of threads to get you started.

Can’t see it on the ‘List1’ 😀
I thought it was a bit quiet on here!! 😀
Hope the delivery goes OK!!
Aeroboot April 17th
Just spotted this short write-up for the Aeroboot on Saturday http://www.key.aero/view_event.asp?ID=415&thisSection=home 🙂
Plus amendments have just been made to Sellers List 4.
….. All the books and magazine features that obsess over what brilliant weapons TSR2 might have carried, what fancy colour schemes it might have worn, or where it might have operated, etc., are all very nice, but they fail to address the key points of the project’s history. I didn’t want to devote space to more of this “what if” stuff, and I’ve opted for a more straightforward account of what did happen, not what might have happened. Okay, I know I’ll get plenty of criticism, especially from those who still want to convince themselves of dark conspiracies, but that’s okay, I have broad shoulders!
So would it be right to assume that none of this http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=94873&highlight=TSR2 will be in your book?
Also out of interest, how much material was forthcoming from the various Company Archives?
The oldest continually outside from NAM is Canberra PR7 WH791 (currently marked as WH792) – IIRC it went on gate duty at Cottesmore in 1972 as 8187M and came to Newark on loan in 1998.
Most of the earlier airframes at NAM i.e. Prentice 1967 (1990), Anson 1968 (1978), Swift 1969 (2004) etc (have been inside for several years).
Another thought – Shackleton WR977 might give the Canberra a run for its money as Ted Budden flew WR977 into Finningley on 9th November 1971 (cannot find a reliable date for the Canberra starting guard duty!) 🙂
Amendments have just been made to Sellers List 1.
Further details re the USAF airframes can be found here …. http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=93596&highlight=Sculthorpe
and here …. http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=75213&highlight=Sculthorpe
An additional observation.
Re-reading the post above has reminded me that shortly after 9/11 checks were made and ‘certain instrumentation’ removed from these loaned airframes by the USAF; who were obviously ahead of the game, or who knows perhaps were setting the agenda.
I don’t necessarily disagree – however the idea arose in response to a suggestion, as detailed here http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1558884&postcount=53
… there seems to be varying views about how successful the idea will be; but it was felt worthwhile trying it out. Some sellers have provided details, whilst others haven’t and have already stated they prefer the unexpected aspect of such events!
No doubt the success or otherwise of the idea will be reviewed in advance of the summer sale that runs alongside Cockpit-Fest on June 19 & 20!
One interesting thought that may bolster the ‘unexpected’ viewpoint – IIRC next Saturday there are more than 10 sellers who are new to selling at an Indoor Aeroboot event at NAM!
Aeroboot update
Aeroboot Seller List 04 has just been added to the News Page! 😀
