Indoor Aeroboot Sale Saturday April 17, 2010

Now, with only one week to go until NAM’s first Aeroboot of 2010 I thought it might be a good idea to provide a further update and give a few reminders.

More than 33 sellers have booked the 40 plus tables in Display Hangar 2 – there are no selling spaces available for anyone turning up on the day.

Buyers / visitors at this event will be able to access the museum site on the 17th at a special discounted admission price of just £4.00 per person.

The museum opening times will be 09.00 to 17.00 hours; these times will be strictly enforced.

Last admission to the museum will be at 16.00 hours, but based on previous experience many Aeroboot sellers may be packing up by 13.00 hours.

Sellers access times as notified with your passes etc.

Further details are available on the News Page or by telephoning 01636 707170.

Come along and get these 2010 events off to a great start! 🙂

Nothing current – the best option would be to get PV to talk to the BAPC Secretary; IIRC details were available in the autumn!

I think you’ll find that the ‘Nimrod Disposal Process’ started in summer 2009.

Well gratuitous sarcasm doesn’t change my view. I do indeed think it’s a shame that an aircraft which was proudly wearing squadron markings should have them removed/covered-up because someone has an obsession with local interest. As I said, it wouldn’t be so bad if the job had been finished but the aircraft has been left half-complete for years with grey paint but no dayglow. Why couldn’t they have left it as it was? And what’s the point of “doctoring” photographs?! Madness!

The following reply was drafted in response the usual Chox type post. When I saw wingcomanderflap’s post I decided not to use it – but having seen the latest ‘post’ I’ve changed my mind – as you will see I’m into mind reading – not hard as some people are so predictable and say the same old things over and over!

“Likewise constant sniping won’t change the colour scheme; three times I think in this thread before I’ve bitten!

As an Accredited Museum – ‘Local’ is part of NAM’s stated collecting policy; sorry if that also doesn’t meet with your approval!

As for the wing tanks (before that old chestnut rears its head again) – take the issue up with Marshalls, where the aircraft came from in 1985.”

😮 Sorry to all the genuine St Mawgan buffs who are posting here – my last word on this thread!

Thanks David, that’s the first figure I’ve seen!

With the state of UK plc’s finances no doubt every last drop of fuel will be drained to keep the RAF operational!

Whilst on finances has anyone heard whispers of what the VC10s, or for that matter the Nimrods that are going into preservation are fetching?

Whilst on a culinary theme – did ‘Atlantic Stew’ (Honkers Stew) transfer over to Nimrods with the former Shackleton Crew that moved over?

NAM also won it IIRC for the construction of Display Hangar 1 in 1989 / 90 – I seem to remember that the Trophy was presented to the NAM Chairman by Mike’s wife, in front of the RAFM Oxford, which was on loan at the time! 🙂
