The local BBC Report http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/2114 is currently showing sunny spells for Saturday and heavy showers for Sunday. [The report was generated using the museum post code so please ignore the Bottesford reference!]

So get that junk out!! 😀

A quick ‘heads-up’ Newark’s doing extended opening [8am to 8pm] on airshow Saturday and Sunday to cover for the Helicopter Shuttles that are flying to and from its site to the airshow.

Should’ve made it clear I was speaking with my hangar Pilot/Nav hat on trying to imagine the awful prospect of trying to get out of a B(I)8 in a hurry 😮

Glad to have cleared that up..:o

To be honest I was joking and taking the opportunity to remind people of the Anniversary Display. Hence the :diablo:

I understand that if there’re sufficient volunteers around that it might be open throughout Cokcpitfest!

I’ve clambered into Newarks hybrid B2/8 which has essentially a B(I)8 cockpit layout, and I can assure you, it ain’t a nice place to be 😮

Ah – don’t say that! Still a few days left to check it out! :diablo:

Wouldn’t like to say for certain; A radio specialist from Lincoln sometimes has a stall, but in recent years he has just turned up rather than pre-booked his space.

cheers for the sit rep on aeroboot. twin otters post must have been an insiders joke? either way cheers for the info.

“Pre-booked Aeroboot passes have been sent out! However people can still pay on the gate for this one!!”

Actually a combination of poor grammar and a desire to plug the Aeroboot a bit more! 😀

    Let me explain further.

Some people pre-book their stalls to sell items at the Aeroboot and gain the benefit of a slight discount in doing so.

Others wait and see what the weather forecast is closer to the day and they only pay for their stall when they arrive on Saturday or Sunday morning. A bit like a normal car boot style event – hence the phrase AEROBOOT aviation and avionics sale. 🙂

No, you’ve completely got the wrong end of the stick.

The Aeroboot is effectively part of the whole event, therefore once you are in the museum you have access to the museum, the Cockpitfest exhibits and the Aeroboot. If you are a Cockpitfest exhibiter then you’ve free access to the lot, and free access to the museum for the rest of year too it seems. Which is jolly decent.

Spot on MarkG – from memory they stopped being separate events about 4 years ago! Even then it was free access for cockpit owners.

A quick check with my colleagues at Newark has revealed the following benefits for cockpiteers / exhibitors for 2009:

    Over the Cockpit-Fest weekend
    – Free admission to the whole museum
    – Free admission to the museum aircraft that are open
    – Discount on food purchased in the café
    – 10% discount on kits & books purchased in the Museum Shop
    – Beef roast serving [Sat night]
    Until December 31st 2009
    – Free admission to the museum & museum site based events
    – 10% discount on kits & books purchased in the Museum Shop

I’ve just spoken with Bill O’Sullivan and all the passes [I’m told they will be valid for free museum admission until the end of the year!] and paperwork will be waiting for cockpiteers / exhibitors when they arrive at the museum.

It was intended to send them out but there’s so much that it is felt best to hand them out on arrival, numbers etc will be based on the information that cockpiteers have sent in to Bill.

Pre-booked Aeroboot passes have been sent out! However people can still pay on the gate for this one!!;)

A Robinson R22 seemed to be the only confirmed update this week [now 22 cockpits], but Newark’s website advises that any further updates this week will be posted at http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/news.php
