Blimey, that’s why they get so few visitors then! A stall (indoor or outdoors) is £30. 😮

Out of interest, what do people think is a reasonable cost to:

Have a stand at an event?

To visit an event as a buyer?

Please, can you do it without the perspex?

Now you’re trying to get me into trouble and normally I don’t need external assistance! 😮

I’ll see what I can do re the Perspex, which I understand has been installed to minimise ‘damage and theft opportunities!’ Sad to say I know but such a large aircraft is difficult to police by volunteers especially up front where access is a bit restricted and it’s difficult to constantly observe what is happening.

From the Flight Engineer station on TG517 [pre-Perspex screens – circa 1980s], not sure whether it helps or not? :confused:

Nice post-restoration picture Jon; the two I posted were scanned from a 1980s print! 😮

pagen – the Cockpitfest organiser will be disappointed, but if you make it to the event my offer still stands re the Shackleton and Hastings. 😉

Newark just has a temporary display until after Cockpitfest.

Sadly as I recall, last autumn such deadlines weren’t as much of an issue! 🙁

I think it would be easier to put one into a ferryable status and fly to where it needs to go, assuming you have somewhere to land it that is!

A bit like the illusive Merchantman Joe! 😉

Does that mean that you might need some booking forms of some type?

A couple of other things Shackleton related:

I believe that the Shackleton Association has a display at the event.

One of my fellow volunteers is ex-42 Squadron on WR977 at St Mawgan [I think]. He should be around so perhaps I could introduce you to him.

Thanks for the information on the Harwell Box; you learn something new every day. Not sure who is bringing along the display but I’ll try and find out from the Cockpitfest organiser. :confused:

If you make it along to the event I’ll try and arrange for you to have a look on the Shackleton! 😉

Looks set to be a good weekend.

I’ve just been talking to the Shop Manager at Newark who says that they have Aeroboot bookings in for both Saturday and Sunday [so far, more for Saturday, as mentioned earlier in this thread]. She also suggested reminding people that they can get a discount on their Aeroboot fee if they pre-book before June 1st 2009.

I believe that there should be another Cockpitfest update out later today or tomorrow and that that event is also starting to get a nice selection of participants lined up.

It all sounds well worth a visit!

But don’t solely rely on that for the sat nav – the post code relates to most of the former airfield site and some devices get a bit confused close to the site.
