The probe on XM594 at Newark was fitted post-delivery [07.02.83] by the museum volunteers.

It’s a Hunter Special at Cockpitfest 2008

“Previous participants should by now have received their 2008 information packs and we would like to confirm that ALL types of aircraft cockpits are welcome and will be on view to the public.

However the 2008 event will also have a special sub-section of cockpits – a special Hawker Hunter line-up. This will form part of a tribute to the 22 ship Hunter loop of 1958 and the line-up will feature Hunter cockpits going from F1 through to the high numbered export versions of this iconic British fighter. Hunter cockpits already promised are: at least one F1, F2, at least one F6, T7, FGA9 and GA11”

Its possible that it could be near the national watersports centre at Holme Peirpoint in Nottingham- not far from Tollerton Airport.

I believe that the Yacht Club near Holme Pierpoint is known as the Park Yacht Club; the Nottingham Yacht Club is further west closer to the East Midlands Airport. Perhaps call to the number above might clairfy things.

I almost forgot this little gem at Newark, sadly now displayed deep inside their Hangar 1. There was even talk of the air display circuit at one time and I believe that it was even placed on the register. 😎

Same ground power unit as was used on the Hastings – circa 1983 I believe but Joe Petroni might have a more accurate date.

The Canberra Association and / or 81 Squadron Association are reputed to have some interest in the PR.7 WH791 that is on loan at Newark Air Museum.

The airframe is currently painted in 31 Squadron markings and wears a fictitious serial WH972; the work being done by members of the 31 Squadron Association and a local ATC Unit.

The Canberra Association have also held several reunion events at Newark in the past to celebrate various Canberra Anniversaries.
