Just a note to those at Key who removed my previous post. Why this censorship? My language wasn’t racist, sexist, anti religious,  political and didn’t involve ‘engineering English’ although I admit I did describe the redesign as a ‘bag of rats’. However, and unlike others, I’m still here, which was the jist of my deleted post.

That’s another thing missing in the new format, the ‘views’ count. I don’t mind starting a thread (as I’ve done in this new era of the Forum) and getting no replies just so long as I know its been seen by 5 or 200.

Getting no replies to a thread and not knowing if anyone even bothered to look is very depressing.

What do you look for in a museum?

Something that makes me say “Wow” or “I didn’t know that”. I also appreciate being amused and saddened in equal measures (for balance) by personal experiences associated with the exhibits.

IIRC the nose at Duxford is an original MkII , as are nearly all original Horsa cockpits, the only original MkI Horsa nose is at Middle Wallop. The last time I visited the AGT at Shawbury there was a veritable cockpit production line with a number being assembled alongside the completed Horsa fuselage, which is why I’m wondering where they all went.

There is another Horsa Mk I cockpit being built by Jet Heritage at Staverton, but this is independent of the AGT production.

The AGT’s Hadrian went to the Dumfries museum and the Tiger Moth is with the Historic Army Aircraft Flight at Middle Wallop where yesterday it’s wings were put back on.

Wharever happened to the Horsa ‘kit of parts’ the AGT was producing for an American museum?

Just like nearly everyone else I’ve had to reset my Username and password (just couldn’t remember it). But I expected that.
Being a semi computer literate old fart I don’t use a smart phone and so the format on my PC looks odd (but I’ll live with it). However what does get me upset is tapping the ‘Last update’ tag and getting not only the start of a thread but one that apparently was started 49 years 9 months ago ?
I know this is the Historical Forum but were these threads really started before the invention of the internet?
