I have electronic copies of two Hurricane reports, namely;
Blower tunnel and flight test on direct-vision openings in the Hurricane windscreen. July 1941 RAE AERO TN 664?
Wind tunnel tests of full scale and model Hurricane wing: Hinge moments of ailerons with and without tabs. Report BA 1448 January 1938.
PM if your are interested.
Looks like an Auster AOP 9. The radio is an Army tank radio.
Knowing Abingdon well I do hope they get the Army to move all their lorries from in front of the hangars, weed 08/26 and hide all the bunds/X-country tracks the Army have built alongside the peri- track, otherwise they will stand out like the crop tram lines did in the Memphis Belle.
In the RAE Structures Department Note Report ACC 217 into the crash of Spitfire MK IX NH 236 during high air speed propeller trials in 1948 there are these photographs of the instrumentation modifications. The two fuselage mounted booms looked like combs as they had numerous pressure heads , after all this was a propeller trial. Similar modifications would have been carried out to aircraft conducting high speed trials with results being recorded on the aircraft and analysed by RAE Boffins post flight. Therefore, its possible to say that if the report gives a Mach number of .92 the aircraft reached .92 Mach
The maximum Mach number seen on this trial was .84 but the accident was as a result of a -6g bunt on recovery from the dive following a loss of conciseness of the pilot for some unknown reason (G Lock?)

It’ll be interesting t see if this thread survives. There was a similar thread about the Sunderland floats on PPrune yesterday which disappeared overnight.
The static (composite) airframe was taken off display at the Army Flying Museum, Middle Wallop in 2018 and put in store, where it is still looking for a new home.
Leaked e-mail and an official denial. Did Dominic Cummings leave Downing Street for a new job at Hendon?
According to Aviation Heritage UK (BAPC as was) they have contacted the RAF Museum who say that there are NO aircraft currently on offer. So where has this ‘news’ originated from? The last aircraft I know the RAFM were trying to rehome was the Miles Magister that was taken off display at Middle Wallop, which is still available as far as I know as it’s still stored in Hangar 2 at Wallop.
Which numpty decided to hold it on the same weekend as the Silverstone Grand Prix considering all the traffic and airspace issues that come with it?
Sopwith, PM inbound.
A small collection of avionics, Auster AOP 9 magneto and Beaver flare pistol pocket all available for a donation to the HAAF chartable trust.
Turbulent Times, you expressed an interest in Auster AOP9 airframe. I don’t know if its just parts or a complete aircraft you were after but our spare Auster airframe is available.
If anyone is interested please contact https://haftech.co.uk/spares-for-sale/
Turbulent Times, and any other interested parties forget trying to contact me via the forum’s PM system, go direct and follow this link to the HAAF’s website. https://haftech.co.uk/spares-for-sale/
The Forum’s PM system seems to be a little clunky and hopefully I’ve replied to those of you who sent a PM giving you my e-mail address.
The process of sorting out what we can dispose of is going to be a little lengthy, the engineering team are only in two days a week and we have nine airframes (2 x Scout, 2 x Sioux, Auster, Beaver, Chipmunk and Skeeter) to work on to keep or make airworthy.
Below is a photograph of a quarter of the boxes that have to be sorted through, parts counted before the decision is made to keep or dispose.
Please bear with us.
I would have said it’s a torpedo handler but a mine would work with it.
