@ Halcyon days, That would’ve been after May 1968 when the Battle of Britain filming ended at Seville Spain and 27 Buchons & 3 Heinkel 111s were flown from Tablada airbase Spain to Madrid, San Sebastion, Nantes, Jersey, Manston and on to Duxford for filming the UK air sequences. There’s another thread on this website covering the Battle of Britain film.

Lucky over my shoulder shot of Capstan 2 seater Bill May if memory serves was the Capstan gliding instructor.
Bill Fey had procured the 3 Tigers. Claude Woodhouse checked me out for towing with the Tiger Moths.
Shelley Curtis was Coventry Gliding Club CFI

LINK >>> Here’s another video of the filmset in Spain etc.
Posted by a Spanish enthusiast judging by the YouTube site intro and Spanish subtitles.
The date on the introduction 1960 is clearly wrong Guy Hamilton says “25 years ago”.
1940 + 25 = 1965. I don’t know if the film-set shown in this video was up and running as early as 1965.
All I know is I departed Tablada along with three He111 and 27 Buchon aircraft by mid 1968 when
filming in Spain ended.
In recent times, 17 Spits at Duxford would be the biggest assembly ( and a few of those were Griffons! )
You’re right Propstrike, the biggest airbourne fleet powered by merlins was likely to have been, as witnessed by Viv Ballamy’s cinefilm, overhead Seville area of Spain.
I was among the aircraft servicing crew, mostly Spanish that accompanied 27 Buchon and 3 He111 bombers back to UK via Madrid, San Sebastion, Nantes, Jersey then Manston. So add flyable Hurri and Spits at the Duxford filmset. Would have the potential not too far short of Tablada. Unfortunately after sunny Spain, UK aerial filming in 1968 had British adverse weather to contend with! :eagerness:
Hamish Mahaddie as a distinguished wartime bomber pathfinder was consulted for several air films. Hamish conjured up fighter planes from all over the world for the 1969 Battle of Britain film. There are several biographies of his life. This one explains just how his long search for rare fighter planes and his discovery that the Spanish Air Force still flew many of them, injected so much realism into the film.

Great to see the full video. recognize Spanish ace Comandante Santa Cruz in brown flying jacket. He shook my hand to congratulate me on completing my first power solo flight in the Blue Aronca 7AC Champ N2426E also shown on the video.. Unaware of Spanish tradition of his first grabbing a fistful of sheep manure. So mirthful guffaws from other aircrew onlookers at my disgust finding my hand covered in the smelly stuff, then laughter once I grinned at having been caught out! Also see Viv Bellamy, who sent me solo, by his Spitfire with his distinctive beard and Berni the production manager young chap in the light blue mac. (Viv the CFI of Hampshire Flying Club & ex RNAS, was my flying instructor along with Duane Egli who maintained and flew B25. Geogh Hawk’s No 2 )
Dug this last pic of Duxford Spitfires out of the gizzards of my computer.

How are you digitizing?
For cinefilm T6Flyer how did you digitalize?
For my colour slides Flying Pencil I used an old Canoscan 880F. The results from 1968 35mm slides then need dust marks and scratches removed and colours contrast etc optimised by a good photo editor.:very_drunk:
Reading through the later posts you will see my own meagre efforts were enhanced further by expertise kindly offered by other forum members.
Not necessary for accreditation Propstrike. Just pleased my pictures are now out there rather than gathering dust. “Sim” will be fine if needs must. Grateful Spitfire Magazine helped along with folks on this forum thread. Hope my pics compliment T6flyer esquire’s excellent stills of Battle of Britain Cine Film and for their forebearance. Hope one day to see the complete Cine Film and wallow in nostalgia!
Thanks again Mark for your previous Spitfire Mag work and for tackling the blue haze. That’s all my 1968 photos albiet some among them need to be cleaned up and photo edited.

Thanks Propstrike aircraft colours are improved but the blue haze problem needs fixing. Note the purple concrete paving.
Septic fixed blue haze perfectly on the San Sebastion slide.
Well Done Mark on fixing the split slide of Morning Briefing No 2! Capitan Coleardo absent on this one. (Spanish Air Force engineer officer in charge of maintaining Buchon and He111 aircraft – my direct boss while in Spain) By John Blake’s side in first briefing photo.
