Hi Cees,
these parts of a crashed Halifax were collected by aviation enthusiasts not too long ago in Greece.
Looking into the details and from oral testimonies, it appears this a/c crashed in the winter of 1943 most probably due to a navigational error and poor weather conditions, killing all crew.
Unfortunately, these small parts are all that remain from the crashed Halifax, as most of the aircraft wreck was collected by locals during that period.
The crew members were subsequently interred at the Allied Cemetery in Phaleron, Athens, Greece.
We are in the process of gathering as much info as possible, regarding the parts and possibly any other information available.
We are expecting some friends to come back to us with more photos and details on the specifics of the area, as the research for anything related to the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
Please see attached photographs, “57” is connected to HP Halifax bombers, looking forward to your feedback.
Thank you!
