And if that were true you’d probably be speaking German right now. That is if your grandparents could prove they were pure Aryans. Otherwise you probably wouldn’t have ever been born. You can hate anyone you want as much as you want, just try not to look too foolish in the process.

Just how tightly wound do you have to be to interpret ‘Uncle Sam will not attack a strong opponent’ as hate? And then to pile such historical ignorance in response. Shocking, just shocking. :p

What advantages would the Super Hornet bring?

Price, availability, proven+stellar record/confidence/reliability, stores flexibility, 2-seater variant for drone coordination, EW variant, buddy refuelling… and a cannon. Strap some EPE in and you’ve got significantly more thrust to play with too. Further low-risk, low-cost modular upgrade paths available to bridge as much of the whizbang gap as is necessary.

F-35 makes no sense as successor to Super Hornet. It just doesn’t bring enough to the table to justify the investment. USN would be better off skipping F-35C and throwing their weight behind X-47 (and all the other programs they keep complaining they don’t have the money for) and then NGAD.

EDIT: Who wants to see acceleration curves for SH w/EPE (~53,000lb thrust full blower) vs. the recently downgraded F-35C? Not LM I bet.

One has to ask why DHS has bought 2500 armored vehicles and 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition in the past five years. That is a good place to begin cuts.

Winslow Wheeler’s recent article for Foreign Policy magazine is a fair reflection of my views on the subject.

It seems the entire defense establishment needs to be reminded that it serves the nation, not the other way around. It’s a pity the heads-on-pikes-outside-the-walls-of-the-city thing isn’t done so much anymore.

Foreigners will come for the market. Look how they are willing to bend over backward for China — another decade and they will be at India’s door also. India should address its manifold issues for its own sake, not to appease foreigners. What is important is to make foreign companies work for India and her people, not merely the handful of gatekeepers and elites accepting bribes, kickbacks, etc.

The Pentagon is crying wolf and should be punished for doing so with harsher cuts. A few choice scalps are probably in order too, but ofc the #1 candidate in Leon Panetta is already leaving.

Destroyer, Frigate, Carrier … all targets. :p
