but Range and to some extent acceleration and speed does matter.
It speed and acceleration does not matter that much why not simply put a huge radar and about some rotating launchers on a 747 and then you can launch both AAM’s and and ASM’s in salvo’s and can probably destroy a whole freaking airforce.
As USAF is buying a 250million dollar F-22 and retrofitted 747 should not be that costly and it can also double as a bomber.
legolasUK and France have already built the anglo-french jaguar and if Britain buys rafale, the whole rafale will get a boost. Britian will probably upgrade the rafale in some areas like fitting it with Ej-200, but it would make the whole aircraft a better one.

legolasFinally what i am saying is in 1970 USN has a plane which can fly lowlevel about 800 miles or probably more and in 2005 we deploy an aircraft USN deploys an aircraft with nearly half that lowlevel range and half the payload.
It is not fully stealthy, only has a better electronics, They should have gone ahead and fitted that to a f-18C/D or A-6. Grumman infact had all the tooling for the A-6 line.
please dont tell me that Sh has better electronics, SH has better electronic suite than a Su-30, Rafale(right now) etc, but everybody can upgrade, but with the same amount of fuel Su can strike about twice the range.

I know that no body here has flown a SH, but there are so many sources on internet which say and even reviews from military analysts which speaks tons about SH and its performance.
Combat debut, Who did the superhornet fight, not even some old cranky migs, but just probably dropped some LGB’s on insurgent targets.
A SH compared to a A-6 does not even have the range to attack northern targets in Afghan territory From a carrier of pakistani shores.
Sh is being made a jack of all trades, but i dont think it is good at anything.
My complain is not that it is replacing F-14 because i think F-18A/B/C/D are good enough for fleet defence when fighting enemies like Iran unless USN has a fight with China or Russia.
SH cant replace tha A-6 it is far too invaluable. Just read at any article about how incapable is SH in replacing EA-6B as a electronic warfare platform.

I understand coutries with amphibious capabilties need AAW defence. But the amphibious capability of all these nations has been eroding rapidly.

But imfact the somali navy can launch a torpedo from a old cranky Kilo, which sneeks into the screen.

legolasUS forces are spread too thinly, If they move into Iran, They are creating a near vacuum in Iraq. i dont think they will launch a full scale sweeping attack on Iran. It will probably be a strike ops against Iranian reactors etc. We have to see how Iran reacts.
INfact i think afghanistan is more stable. The populace there are just happily cultivating the poppy crop under the guard of US special ops personnel and trained afghan army assisting them in transporting.

Muslims are ‘as much’ a part of this century as everybody else. But they ‘do not’ have to live by “enlightenment” principles which are western principles and are infact not shared by most of the world. We dont accept blasphemy and we have every right to protest it. And if you don’t like it then I am sorry but there isnt much you can do about it anyways unless ofcourse you become a part of the political process and somehow manage to ban protesting :).
The Danish paper must have known that a depiction of the prophet Muhammad as a terrorist would outrage Muslims. It is plain dumb to claim such blasphemy as just a joke concordant with the western way of life. Better claim it as intentionally savage, since that was how it was bound to seem. To adapt Shakespeare, what to a Christian “is but a choleric word”, to a Muslim is flat blasphemy.
