He is talking about this:
green321,
Do you have any idea what the Privatair A219 was doing at LPL?
It comes to FZO (Filton, nr BRS) on a regular basis andflies Airbus/BAe workers to TLS in Fance and Broughton. My Uncle works for Airbus so he goes on it and I’ve got the Privatar inflight magazine and boarding cards. The service used to be operated by Bristish European on a BAe146 but when they changed to flybe. the stopped.
OLT flies to Hamburg and Bremen in Germany for the same reason too on a Saab340 from Filton.
Talking of Filton, I went past in the car today and the road runs right past the runway and a section of the taxiway where two EAL 742 are stored. I got a really good view but I didn’t have my camera which was a shame. G-BDXH had its engines off. Looked vey sad 🙁
The only time I saw a Vampire it crashed 5 minutes later during its display at the Biggin Hill airshow 🙁
I doubt both planes took off on the same runway at the same time, maybe on different runways at the same time…
Wednesday arrival is at 17:05, I messed up on the other one though, no 757s on Thursday, the 2 come on Friday, at 17:05 and 19:10
Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays BA bring a 757 to NCL from LHR, although on Thursdays you get 2, and at the rate BA keep knocking out their planes currently the 767s are going to be making a more regular ocurrence too :p
Nice pics btw
FRA was pretty poor, security was just a nightmare for me on my visit.
CPH is nice, but contrary to most people I really enjoyed CDG’s T1, all the sloping escalators etc were interesting, and despite being an old building I found really interesting (OK I was only about 10 at the time!)
Lisbon is prett poor also, very hot stuffy, and sickening, but my worst is the LGW south terminal. Constant building work, low ceilings and loads of artificial lighting that has the nasty artificial lighting feel without actualy illuminating anything. Yuk!
Hearing a plane and not being able to see it is definitly the thing that irritates me the most, no question!!!
The circular thing with a tube is meant to be the NEW VOR I think.
That model looks like it was designed for FS5, its awful!!!
It will just be exactly the same as your 146, but with a standard BA 3+3 cabin.
The Thames has a very very strict speed limit that is rather well enforced. I haven’t sailed for a few years and can’t remember the exact figure, but it is way slower than what that car can do
Oh dear!
Ignore the zone, read up on the stuff on Vatsim and fly on there, takes a bit more effort but is 1000000% better!
🙁 A real shame, a wonderful aircraft that makes an IMENSE noise!
Dan are you going to go down to catch her tonight?
I really don’t think any of the American Majors are:
a) In the financial position to purchase new aircraft. Whilst there may be cost savings involved in their purchase in the long term, as shown with BA in its 777 order, crippling debt is generally experienced in the short to medium term, something none of these carriers need
b) They don’t really need them, all the US majors have modern fleets of 767s and 777s that do not justify replacing.
However having said all that since when has economics been the primary factor in aircraft purchasing, I’m sure a lot of behind the scenes politcking is taking place, as ever.
Nice report, but assume you mean June 2003 😉
The “Guppy” was just a nicknme I think, similar things though. They fly them between all the Airbus sites, so in the UK that is usualy only Filton and Hawarden.
