Perhaps proper LoCo wasn’t the best description, but even the basic Southwest Fares are extortinate for the service offered! Like I said our flag carriers over here offer similar basic fares, and all the frills.

No-ones getting anything over on one another, if people started inventing the planes they had flown on just to impress that would be silly, but just documenting the types flown is hardly vain?
I also just remembered by Sikorsky S.61 and Bell Jetranger flights as well, very interesting 🙂

Yes but they have been saying that and changing it for months if not years now, I don’t think they even really want the damn things at all?

The best BA flight I ever had was on an ERJ, 2nd best was on an RJ100, worst was on a 767 😉

I say good luck to him, the USA needs a proper LoCo I think. Airlines such as Southwest and JetBlues basic fares are very similar to the basic fares of our flag carriers in Europe.

I have flown EZY 4 times (GO twice) and Ryanair 7 times, and the only difference between the two are the colour and size of the airplanes, and the slightly longer distance I have to travel to get a Ryanair flight.
Staff morale on both carriers did not seem incredible, whilst EZY staff get somethings FR staff don’t the reverse is true. EZY has a disgraceful staff travel programme that has caused a lot of controversy recently, have not seen such a problem with FR.
However I have not once met an unhappy customer from flying either airline. You pay peanuts you gets monkeys as I think the saying goes. People know that when they are only giving Ryanair 1p of their money (Remember those horrendus taxes you pay do not touch the airline) they are expecting nothing more than a bus service. You hop on the plane, it gets you to the destination, and even better gives you the option to buy some refreshments and gifts along the way.
As several people have pointed out the 2 airlines have allowed so many more people to fly than would have done otherwise, and the LoCos have been instrumental in bringing down the fares of the established flag carriers.
The 2 carriers are slightly different, but not much (LTN is not much further from London than STN) and I (And I am sure many others too) would not hesitate to fly either airline again if the arrangements offered by the airline fits in with my travel plans.

They are long gone from the fleet, they were either scrapped or went to EAL. BA were never paid by EAL though, and are way up the creditor list with the company’s liquidators.
This will get BA a pretty bad reputation when it all comes through as BA will end up getting the bulk of the EAL money that many of the ex EAL workers are trying to claim 🙁
