I don’t quite understand the need for the 345 on the route either. However they have used it on the route ever since the 1st one was delivered back last year. Now however they always use the same one A6-ERC

130 would have been his landing speed, and at BA he would have to have that speed by 500ft AGL!

As far as I am aware the 767s are not being retroiftted with PTVs, purely 2 or 3 old short haul configured 767s are being given a First and a Club world cabin and being used on long haul routes.
The poor sods in the back of 767s for 12 hours to Bogota for example have still got to suffer.
As for AVOD I assume that is an in flight entertainment system, but as I have never flown long haul I can’t really commment on the different types available

Mine was a dismal failure, probably coz I applied 2 months after 9/11! Instead had a riveting week with Stagecoach!

Seriously bad thunderstorm this side of LHR all night. Was very nasty indeed, with Luton and Stansted getting quite a bit of action in the form of diverts.

The most sensible thing to do would be to state your position and interests in an email or phone call to the company, and see what they say. If you get a no then pop into the cockpit at the start of the flight and sweet talk the captain!
Official company policy nowadays is NO, but individual captain responsibility is often a bit different

Becuase of BAAs pathetic attitude to spotters the security staff there are generally nice and understanding, unless you get a gung ho one that kicks you out of fields that don’t even belong to the BAA! 😡

You can also take off on FLEX power, which is a type of derated take off that reduces engine wear, but can only operate in certain conditions.
I would not have thought JNB would be one of the places it would be commonly used?

Your L1011 is G-IOIT belonging to Classic Airways. I’m not quite sure what it does there, but it has been there for ages. One of your white 742s would also have been G-INTL, again in long term storage, owned once upon a time by AFX.
The 2 744Fs would probably have been Global Supply Systems, but they operate 3 aircraft so it could have been any of those 3.

Oh yes, with the 146s you have to worry about the noisy flaps, in the Q400 you have to make sure you don’t sit at the back, or don’t sit at the front and look back, the fuselage flexes on final approach even in minor crosswinds and it looks rather worrying!

Its not similar, it is Continentals! That aircraft plus a few other came from CO and FR don’t want to repaint them as they are going to be replaced by more 738s, so just slapped on some Ryanair titles and badly repainted the globe on the tail!

Very nice pics Kev especially the LHR one, roughly how full was the flight?

Saw quite a few of them over my house whilst lounging in the garden yesterday, going into LGW. Makes a slight change from the 737, but no doubt I will be asking for the 737s back when I get A319itis

Nice report Kev, the more I fly and the more I see how absurdly low the prices are the more I crave to get back up there in the air!
    Pictures would be excellent 😉

Nothing special, just an airline. Fly you from point to point and thats about it. Don’t do much so its difficult to criticise them, especially on such short sectors.
