The Queen’s Flight uses Heathrow (Royal Suite) for almost all ex-London flights, as does Blair. I don’t see any reason that they’d change.

Very rarely, RAF Northolt is predominantly used.

Great stuff Paul, wasnt aware the SP was back up and running for the summer. I think the Qatari’s use it as a European shuttle when they cant find any spare Airbus’s

I currently have a flight booked home to London from Belfast on the 2nd, but I’m thinking of just disregarding that and flying to Manchester first thing on the 1st, and then spending a few days in my new house in Leeds.

The problem is that means discarding a booking and making a new one, which is a morally objectionable thing to do given the state of my finances :p

It would make sense given that FlyBe have reduced their BHD-NCL from 3 daily to just once daily, and that would imply that it was NOT FlyBe thinking of going to MME, and instead points back to bmi Baby, which would suggest BFS.

Either way it will be strange as it will mean either airline going back on a previously implemented strategy. Unless we are missing out a third possible contender? Eastern is the only one I can think of?

BHD would be excellent for me, because as I found out the other day MME isnt that difficult to get to from Leeds…

The ATR doesnt have an APU at all, so the prop brake function is used to replicate this.

These usually follow the form of basic analytical tests I think. An example would be placing different shapes into boxes of the same shape within a certain time period, or working out which box net, when folded will actualy make a box, and eliminating those that wont.

These kind of things are used for ATC testing under the heading “logical thinking”. For ops it may take on the form of something slightly more relavant, like a simple logistical problem with aircraft, requiring you to come to a solution.

Its a very ambiguous title under which they can throw you practicaly anything they like, but the above are common examples I have heard about. Pprune might be a good place to find someone who has already taken the Jet2 tests though…

    Two things:

    * I pay for a seat that reclines (as do all passengers). The space behind my seat, into which it reclines, is MY space, not the space of the passenger behind. If I don’t recline my seat, then the person behind temporarily gets use of extra space during that period. When I want to recline the seat, its going back whatever the passenger behind thinks and too bad for them.

    Andy

Interesting argument. If, as you say, the space you are paying for is the space of the seat in full recline, surely the advertised seat pitch is therefore erroneous?

Caledonian you are indeed correct, KPMG are the appointed administrators. They are trying to sell the business as a going concern, but ultimatley it will probably end up being incorporated into another freight operator, or bought out by a non aviation company.

My money is on the first one…

But……..the most annoying thing, is my Mrs, who kicks off with anybody who reclines at all, at ANY time. Then expects me to back her up! 😮

The last time was on our trip to South Africa. A 12 hour flight, and she refused to let the poor ****** in front recline at any point.I mean ok, she’s 6’2″ and an ex- lifeguard (no bullsh*t), but it’s hardly passenger in front’s problem. 🙁

OK I’m 6’4 and totally sympathise with your wife. If I can go for 8 hours without reclining my seat, even if its a child sat behind me, then the person who is 5’7 in front of me can sure show some courtesy and so the same.

The good thing about this situation however, is that in the world of declining seat pitch, 90% of the aircraft I fly in, my knees are compressed quite tightly against the seat in front. This make reclining the seat they are pressed against physically impossible. After afew sharp jerks against my legs, with no movement in the recline in the chair, I do have to point out to the person in front that it will NOT go back any further, and to please stop attacking my legs 😉

Not thats free. If you want to pay $5 a month then FBO Web http://www.fboweb.com is OK, but only really for planning information, not really up to date data on arrival/departure times really.

Lovely stuff Paul, sorry I couldnt make it in the end 🙁

Lets hope after the Saudi’s recent diversion experience into Leeds they will be making the visit even more often.

Any chance you got a shot of G-JEDU arriving at about 1430? 😉

No idea really, depends what the small print says in the T&C I suppose, and whether you were blocking any roadways or access points where you were standing or not? Worth a shot I suppose…

Hi, I have a couple of questions about London Heathrow – I’m planning to go there in the next couple of days in the sunny weather to take some pictures.

    1) is it correct that usually runway 9 is used morning and early afternoon, then it changes to runway 27?

No. The usual runways are 27, 09s only get used about 25% of the year. 09s operated on a fixed schedule, 99% of the time 09L for landing, 09R for departure. 27s do NOT operate on a fixed schedule, and they alternate not only every week, but also every day at 1500 local.

    2) whats the best way to get to the field at the end of 9L, from one of the terminals? is it accessible on foot ?

The best bus to get out of the airport is the 285 from the central bus station. This takes you directly to Hatton Cross, for 27 arrivals (for free). If 09s are in use it will take you to the Bath Road (for free) where you will have to change buses, and pay for another one to take you a mile or two down the road towards the 09L approach field.

There are various buses that do both services, but for 09s the 285 is best, and I think its the 82 to Longford you want after the Bath Road.

    Hope this helps.
