Well I was using the argument to show the neccesity of immigration in supporting our economy from beneath, with all the jobs that are taken for granted. But yes you raise another good point that the Professions are sufferring from a shortfall in staff numbers, particularly the NHS which is being supported hugely by immigration from all over the world, not just Europe.

Despite the fact that, depending on the quality of media you indulge in, there are numbers of people who do very little when they get here and survive successfully off the welfare state, there is a very strong job market here, and also in Ireland. There are huge amounts of positions available in lower paid jobs which are continually being shunned by British workers who can get better employment elsewhere.

Cleaning, catering, and other positions in the service industry are understaffed at the moment, and the fact is there are many companies out there where it is in their best interests to encourage immigration, purely down to the fact that British people are more and more able to get higher paid jobs. Economically speaking Britain is far from full, and requires the current levels of immigration to be sustained.

Why on earth have they removed an airbridge? Practically every other airport in the world is trying to add as many as possible at the moment!

Even if the airport is 99% LCC who dont use bridges, I still dont see the point in actually removing one :confused:

Aldergrove must be the last airport in the UK to have a open Baggage Area where the public can walk up the belts!!

Exeter has one, but thats the only thing I can think of right now, I think even the one at Plymouth was airside. You’d think in Belfast of all places the security would be quite tight!

I must admit BHD is a far nicer airport to pass through in almost every respect. Unless of course you have a delay, in which case there isnt much to do, but in nearly 2 years of regularly using the airport I’ve been quite lucky!
