Great shots Paul. Let me know when you guys are next up there, I have nothing to do for the next 9 days so would be nice to get up there once or twice in that time!
AerCap Aviation Solutions, I think it was in a recent airliner world?
In some countries aircraft have to be registered in the country they are owned. Like most airlines Alitialia and other Italian airlines lease a large amount of aircraft from the finance companies such as Debis. Debis is one of the bigger ones, and is based in Ireland as I think are one or two others, and as such all their aircraft operating in Italy have to retain the Irish registration.
Italy is one of the only European countries with a policy like this. In other countries domestic registrations are usually avoided for tax purposes as gb mentioned, but in Italy it is more administrative as opposed to financial.
Along with a reputation for being quite pricey.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up charge 3 times as much as AlphaOne plan to.Having said that, it is true they’re proven themselves trustworthy, after a slightly shakey start.
Their fares are typically in the same range as A1, catering almost exclusively for the business traveller. The fares are in line with a flexible day return on the railways, and are usually slightly less in fact.
I’m not entirely sure what you mean by a slightly shaky start, I can’t recall anything of that nature?
The Isle of Man market is an odd one. As you said there is a strong link between the financial centres, however airlines have a long history of pulling out of the Island. The relatively strong list of destinations today is largely due to an intense bit of competition between Euromanx and Aer Arann and the traditional airlines. However even Eastern Airways pulled their Leeds service, despite the similar stature of Leeds to Edinburgh as a financial centre.
An argument often used is that the island is no longer a tourist destination in the sense it once was, but the air services were never intended for the leisure traveller anyway! As I said, a confusing one.
Advertised fares dont include tax though sadly, and the tax in some cases doubles the advertised fare (Belfast is £82 return and not £40 as advertised)
Apart from the three I just mentioned that are owned by Air One and still fly for them 😉
Ever seen an Air One B737 with an Italian flag and registration? :p
I-JETA

I agree with Skymonster, this is far from the first time Ryanair have done something like this. A few years ago you used to hear increasingly outlandish stories, the last one I remember involved a tank!
Its usually between Easyjet and Ryanair, but FlyBe and BA have also been targeted, and I believe hit back as well! (not with a tank though :p )
The operations are so confused and disjointed even their loyal supporters don’t know whats going on!!!
Nope not anymore, just 3 A320s.
As always a lot of seriously unreliable half truths in there, but I think its the first time I’ve ever seen him admit some of the failings (although not his failings of course) in an interview. Things are slowly getting better I suppose.
Definitly the Britten Norman Trislander from Guernsey to Dinard and back in the summer of 2004. Superb fun!
The change isnt made until the 26th March, so any flight in late Feb will still be under the existing system.
Nope its not 🙁
