What was the film I saw on TV in about 1975 about a group of misfits rebuilding a PBY Catalina on an airfield?
The only two things I can remember about the plot (for want of a better word) is that the misfits needed an electrical junction box and they stole it from another PBY in a museum, and that at the end of the film when they were to finally fly their PBY, that they blew it up and escaped on horseback!
Steelyard Blues starring Donald Sutherland and Jane Fonda with the late great Peter Boyle
TWO PBY Catalinas. 😉 A favourite film of mine. 🙂
Yes great film but which PBY’s ? I could only make out one a Canadian registered example .
Excellent programme.
Loved the fact that Ewan preferred the Hurricane to the spit [good taste that man!]
Ok according to many posters it got this wrong that was overlooked etc etc. I would like to know a TV programme that appeals to everyone and get’s every single nitpicking thing right. Enjoy for what it is and hopefully it will encourage people to look further and be the future nitpickers we need.
As a way of interesting those who don’t no much about the BoB, it did a great job.
Does that mean James May is really Ben Collins ? I always wondered who Ben Collins really was.!!:D
you miss the whole point of the mystery behind it , to say you knew it was a proffesional is stating the glaringly obvious
but the intrigue was trying to work out wich professional or indeed if it was a difrent one each week
No i didn’t miss the mystery of who is the Stig, i just don’t care who the stig is in real life, The Stig is a character that is all to me.

The Stig is a white racing suit with a white crash helmet with black visor.
It matters not a jot who or who may or may not be in the suit.
The Stig is just the STIG !:D:D
