Thanks for the replies and information – the Explosives Depot certainly makes sense as the area between Earsham and Hedenham is criss crossed by the ‘concrete roads’ which were supposedly part of a WW11 bomb dump for Flixton and I believe other 8th AAF airfields locally. I wasn’t aware of any post war activity there and local memories seem only relate to the war time bomb dump.
Any other info will be gratefully received
