Fonk- You do excellent work. What 3D program did you use to make those? It would be alot easier to start out making a mod, like the Battlefield 1942 mod Desert Combat. http://www.desertcombat.com You should also check out the open source flight sim Flight Gear http://www.flightgear.org

Kerimeski in Finland is the place where you will find the worlds biggest church made of wood.

I think the wooded churches of Norway are also the oldes wooded structures in the world, 28 of them left.

By all accounts, including I believe experimental archaeology and the re-enactment community, Elm was/is very much a second choice to yew in terms of suitability to the longbowman. Differentially elastic heart and outer woods were used. Decreasing the length would not, I think, increase the potential energy of the bow.

Well I was a very avid member of the re-enactment community for medieval archery. And I can say you are right in that Elm was/is a second choice for archers then and now. But the reason is is that Yew is a naturally flexible wood, and its a very straightforward process to make a bow from it. Because Yew is so flexible, the bow has to be made very thick to get high draw weights. And that thickness has to be compensated by length to retain long draw length. The longbows recovered from the Mary Rose seawreck were on average 2 inches thick, 6 feet long and had draw weights of 100 lbs to 150 lbs. Elm on the other hand is a hardwood, and extremely stiff. It is difficult to make a bow from it, but it can be done. And because the wood is so much stiffer, the bow can be made much thinner for a given draw weight and consequently shorter.

Welsh archers indeed were famed for very powerfull bows going back before the formation of England. One reason is they used Elm instead of Yew. This made for shorter bows with much higher energy storage potencial due to the stiffness/elasticity of the wood itself. For example its told of how Welsh archers split open 4 inch think Oak doors with their arrows.

Lets give it time, see how it goes. These folk deserve a chance to live. If their countries debt is cleared, maybe they can challenge their Government. Ask where the money is going, stop corruption, help themselves build a life…….

    dme

Better yet, lets give up on being PC and first demand that governments show accoutablitiy for the money that is being used to pay debt, and then clear the debt once formal contract on use of that money is being made.

Is the whole point of this event not to waive the repayments? If so then folk can eat, can get medicine and can live.

Who are we kidding by assuming that cancelation of debt will free up money to be used for helping people. It doesnt work that way, your living in storybook land if you think it does. The fact is that african nations themselves are taking harsh meaures against there own people to curb populations growth.
