It should also be mentioned the F-16 has a non-moving stick, which means its designed for sustained turns and not transitional manuevering. But that is a weakness that can only be exploited by other 4th gen fighters as the F-16s thrust to weight ratio will allow it to pull away from most sticky situations.
Any idea how it would run with a lower end GeforceFX?
The Asus A7N8X uses nVidia chipsets, so I would think it would run quite well with Geforce GPUs.
I find it offensive that alot of people complain about lack of certain fighters in Il-2. The russians made the best fighters in WW2, no doubt. And the russian theater of war was by far the most hard fought of that war, as well as the ultimate match of mass produced technology. So their really should be a sim devoted to just that part of the war. I love flying the Yaks and La-5s and their couterpart Me-109 and Fw-190. I was dissappointed at the distribution of types in original IL-2 with like about 12 different types of IL-2s and other obscure russian models, and only 1 La-5 and a couple of Yaks. But that has been straightened out for the most part with FB.
Simmer- There has got to be some mistakes here. Youve got a 2.5 Athlon? Which one? And you can get a 2.3 ghz Athlon for 45 pounds? That sounds awfully cheap. And BTW, we got the same mobo! I got the A7N8X-E! That makes a huge difference, not nessesarily in framerate, but in texture quality with the increased bandwidth. People dont realize speed isnt everything, bandwidth counts for alot in eliminating choke points.
well get to it asap mixtec……
Im on it

– Riveted structure has better fatigue strength and is easier for repair than welded structure.
– Rivets increase strength, because they are expanding during riveting and the hole’s edges are internally herdening.
Welding joint always decreasing strength.
Also if cracks are appearing, riveted structure is better, because the hole can stop those cracks.
Of course production time is long, is necessary to drill pilot holes, after that redrill, deburr, countersunk holes (for countersunk rivet heads) and rivet (make closing heads).
please read an structural-materials book…..
No, he is right. You should.
SOC
Plus MiG did notice that there was a shortage of experienced riveters at the time, so welding was the logical choice.
Noooooo SOC, not again buahhh this is (i think) an construction-design thread, not an foxbat thread, the russians are not soooo stupids to make an riveted steel plane (maybe are exeptions, maybe)
About the topic.
Yes the Al is hard to weld (because that stupid oxide layer)so the only practical solution are rivets, the riveted unions reduce the transverse piece area, the rivets increase the deformation “pressure”,etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,e tc,etc, etc, etc, there are more blablablablabla comparing welding/riveting, but im tooo lazy to say all, ,a question (for who knows), you can weld aluminium with argon-plasma arc????
Actually welding weakens higher grades of aluminum. And maybe you would like to fill in some bla blas instead of hiding behind assumed knowledge.
PLA
You guya forgot the most important one… Glueing… Fokker was famous for that.
Interseting, maybe is the same compositives concept??????
Or maybe just the laminated wood days.
Keep in mind the SR-71 leaks fuel like a seave when sitting on the ground because the skins expand/contract due to high heat. Foxbat obviously doesnt have that problem.
Steve- If you dont mind me playing the devils advocate, can I ask the simple question: are you too nice? Let me give you an example of what I mean by explaining what happened with my girlfriend recently. She came to town and we went out for the night to a dance club and had a good time. I paid for the evening and for her hotel. When we were going back to the hotel: a) There was no makeout session b) She complained that we couldnt do anything more because “I didnt bring any money”. OK, “a” didnt bother me because Im 39 and Im not dying for it, but “b” is unacceptable because I know where she is going with that, she thinks she is going to play me for one of those guys who has to lavish money on her to get on her “good side”. I sent her an email (she lives with her family, I dont like calling) after she left saying the relationship is over because I felt like the line “you didnt bring enough money” is something bordering on prostitution. She actually took that email well, even though it was offensive to her. And she even sent me an email afterwards trying to work it out, but I sent a firm reply that Im not backing down on my position that she was wrong in this situation. So what Im getting at is that you have to know what you want in a relationship. She has showed herself as someone who doesnt value you. Dont stay friends with her, be strong enough to say that you dont like her attitude for you and find someone who does treat you right. You wouldnt tolerate being treated like some feable guy character by male friends you know. There is no reason you should by a woman.
Somebody hasnt been to Brazil or Thailand.
I was told by a US submariner that they are mounted on the sail purely for decreased sound interference with the bow passive array. And he said that having them mounted on the forward part of the hull gave greatly increased leverage for ship control.
Forget it Moggy, its just hearsay, nothing worth mentioning.
OK.
Remind me, how much P1 time do you have on Stearman?
Moggy
None. So does that mean youve won this debate since you have personal experience flying a Stearman?
Attention to forum: Noone here can speak about Stearman flying characteritics till youve flown one.
Then how could you ignore the Stearman? A lovely solid aircraft to fly but with period style and bags of performance.
The Stearman definately does not have bags of performance, infact its quite a slug compared to the usual nimbleness of biplanes. I talked to a guy who was a military flight instructor in WW2, and he said that the Ryan PT-16 had much better manuever ability and produced better pilots than the Stearman.
Im usually not arquementative when people are merely discussing their favorite planes. But Id really like to see the bi-plane get the appreciation it deserves, and the Stearman really gives bi-planes a bad rep.
