Since were making suggestions about the forum, Id just like to throw in the idea that the character limit for PMs should be raised substancially from its current 1000 limit. 1 character=1 byte, so thats a 1k limit, which I think is bit low, and makes writing PMs very fustrating, having to copy and paste messages onto multiple PMs.

I think a good comprimise would be to have an ignore post list maintained by respected members on this forum, and give members the option to activate this list of flame posts if they so desire.

Even in the most extreme situation such as on sci.military
.naval where that newsgroup is inundated with blantent racial hatred posts, there is a danger to have members censure posts. To be honest Ive never found anything really bad or offencive to where I coulnt stand to view it (unlike sci.militarty naval). The best I think is to allow the original poster of the thread to delete posts or at least put warning messages of posts that are a waste of time.

For those of you who dont have a word processing program with spell check, you can download this shareware text editor for free that has an excelent spell check. Its only 1mb with a .3 mb spell checker add on. Ive found the spell checker to be better than the one on MS Word and the text editor itself is more powerful and full featured than Word for doing serious text editing projects. Its such a quick download you can even download it for your self at internet cafes.

There are new words, but theyre all dumb, and youll only make yourself look dumb by using them. Best to steer clear from americanisms.

For those who want to learn spanish, I have advice for you as Ive had to teach myself spanish. Start out with a book that just teaches you common words, theres alot of cognates between english and spanish so it wont take too long. Dont try to learn grammar right away as it will only fustrate you. The biggest problem I encountered in spanish was verb conjugation, so familiarize yourself with it right away or else sentences just wont make sense. Also youll notice that spanish speakers speak in a sort of rapid fire staccato, this is not a style of speech but the correct way to speak. Words have to be run together rythmaclly, if you pronounce words seperately, it makes the language sound labored. For example it doesnt sound right to say como esta seperatly, you say COMOsta. If you practice your spanish in Spain, you may find they talk very fast, or it least it seems that way to me on tv, as well as dealing with the lisp they use in some parts and a nazal inflection women seem to use. Learning spanish in university Im sure is good, but if you dont practice it, youll just forget everything you studied. There are intensive emersion schools here in Mexico that can have you speaking basic spanish in about a month. Its 6 hours a day, 5 days a week for about $400 a month. I recomend this one:
