    portrait of computer idiot

Im writing this at internet cafe because my computer is not working anymore and I waiting for the computer shop to open so I can have my computer formated and OSs reinstalled. Last night I just got fed up, went to control panel>uninstall programs and uninstalled ATI drivers and ATI control panel. Then I went to program files at drive C and deleted everyfile with ATI or Radeon on it. So ofcourse when I tried to install my drivers fresh of my disk, Ill I got were a bunch of error messages staring at me in 16 color.

nikumba- When I get my computer back, do I really have to uninstall ATI drivers and ATI control panel to install directX9 ?(I dont want to go through this again). And is the catylst driver from ATI just an update, or do I have to uninstall the driver that came on my disc to install the catalyst driver?

I have a couple of other questions since were on the subject. I read that XP runs games at 60fps because it doesnt recognize the framerate you set on the OS, and when I tried to run CFS3 on my XP patition, thats what happened. How do I fix that? Also Ive had a problem with this new graphics card and my last two graphics cards (geforce 4mx440, geforce 2mx440) where when I run the flight sim “Battle of Britain” when I exit the game in 1024×768, my monitor goes into 800×600 and 60fps. My new graphics card only goes into 60fps. What can I do to fix that?

    thanks everyone for your help

Thanks Bigglesworth, but the driver download section of http://www.guru3d.com is even more confusing than the ATI site as they give no description of what the downloads are or what they do. I want to know exactly what I need to download rather than try this stuff by trial and error.

    kev35-
“Backward facing seats are not used because they are dangerous.”

“So why are they used in rail and coach travel?”

Because its too expensive to turn trains around the right way, especially on busy commuter routes

“In a high speed collision a persons back could be broken by the force of their body pressing against the seat.”

“As opposed to being crushed from behind when seats break away and are hurled forward anyway?”

Have you noticed that airline seats have a heavy duty aluminum frame undernieth? The kind of force it would take to rip out the seats is equal to the kind of impact that would turn the airliner into a big black splotch on the ground.

“A persons body could be turned to the side by high G forces putting their body off to one side of the seat and again breaking their back/neck.”

“Surely the body can be turned sideways whichever way you are facing. Depends what the aircraft is doing around the seat.”

Thats true, but the fact remains you are garanteed to sustain serious injurys in an impact where your body is off to the side of a rearward facing seat. You wont in a forward facing seat.

“Theres also the issue of debree flying forward at impact at hitting peoples faces during impact. “

“Doesn’t matter whether an unsecured bag hits you in the face or the back of the head it will probably kill you just as dead. The placement of seating is only going to be of benefit in landing and take off accidents. If the a/c falls apart at FL350 it won’t matter a damn where you’re sitting.”

It wont hit you in the back off the head in a high g impact because your body will be thrown forward or you should already be in the torso forward postion anyways to prepare for an impact.

How far along is the A380 in its development? It doesnt carry that much more passangers than the 747 yet its very much larger and heavier. I dont think people are going to pay more (it will cost more to fly this thing) just to have a bunch of room to walk around during the flight.

loz- First I want to say that its very good that you are up front about your fear of stalls. In my opinion PPL training softpedals the actual dangers of stalling an aircraft accidently, and many peoples confidence stems form lack of awareness of the dangers that confont them. Stalls are the #1 reason for fatalitys in private aviation and you have to fly defencively to stay away from stalls just as you have to drive defencively in a car to avoid collisions. Your fear is good, and only knowledge will help you handle that fear head on.

Id be curious how many countrys are running this, I think all the western europeans have one and most of the major latin american countrys. Here in Mexico theres a well built blond who is sort of the draw of the show (shes half german half mexican), the camera always seems to be on her or whats going on around her. At least this is not as bad as that academia talent show where you see teenagers dryhump eachother all the time.

Thanks TJ. However the whole reason I want to connect a newsreader to a server is because Im tired of using google groups. There is an average 6 hour refresh delay and its very difficult to find posts branching off long threads (have to read date and time of each post). Your second link only works for customers of FreeUK. Basically I just want to find a server for use with Xnews and the help file didnt suggest any. xnews.newsguy.com
