RE: Stones for engagement rings
You need to read a book called “The illusion of diamonds” by Epstein. The value of diamonds is artificially set by the DeBeers company of south africa/namibia. If your a sucker, youll pay these artificial prices. I am familiar with emeralds, if you want to make a really good deal, youll go to colombia where you can buy them for a fraction of the market price. Remember the two important points to look for is clarity, any sparkeling in the stone is caused by imperfections and is to be avoided. And the darker the green the more valueable the stone. And of course this factors in with the size/weight of the stone.
RE: Whats the speed of Dark ?
E=MCsq is basically the “horsepower” of mass. Infact MCsq can be directly converted into newtons, juels, horsepower or whatever measurement you prefer.

“Speed of gravity? That doesn’t make sense, it contradicts the very foundations of basic physics. Gravity is a force, and therefore provides accelaration, which means speed cannot be a constant”.
Actually there is no such thing as gravity. Gravity is just the acceleration of mass relitive to space caused by the bending of space by mass.
Hand87-
“It does make sense. Imagine that a massive object wouls appear in the galaxy , the effect of his mass won’t be instantaneous. This force would propagate through the space. If this effect was instantaneous, it would mean that this effect travels at an infinite speed which is non physical. Let’s wait and see ….”
There is no outer limit to “gravity” of a given mass. Its force extends infinitly. As to “darkness”, Im guessing whats really being refered to is space. Im not sure that space has been really measured because there is no constant to measure it too (hence relitivity). I think thats what Einstein was striving for in his attempt at a unified field theory in bringing all the forces of nature under one law.

Adonis- Ill bet the reason you struck out is because of that keg party photo you posted a long while back, remember? The one you posted on the weekend so webmaster wouldnt be around to delete it.

RE: Help me catch my mouse
Im an expert here. I once worked as a stockboy for a very busy fastfood place. Mice were litterally eating into entire racks of buns. I bought four mousetraps and in about 2 months time all my traps made tripple ace (I kept score by drawing tiny mice behind the traps). The trick is to surround the 3 sides of the trap with some kind of border leaving only the bussiness side open for the mouse to approach.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-11-02 AT 05:30 PM (GMT)]Icarus- Im very surprised the tactics you describe works. One thing I like about Ghost Recon is that the accuracy nessesary to take out enemy is very realistic. You have a tiny dot for a redicule, and that dot has to be on the man to hit him. Not like counterstrike where you have this large circle and anything within 400 yards inside that circle will get hit with a short burst. Im running my 1.5 athlon on 256 RAM and shared onboard memory, so Im not proccesing frames fast enough to do real quick/accurate shooting. Ive found the enemy are very accurate at medium ranges like what you have when theyre directly below you in that canyon. Heres the trick I used, but I seriously doubt it will work on elite. Take all you troops and wipe out the patrols on the lower right flank, you can just postion them in certain points and let them shoot, you dont need to directly contol it. Then you position all your troops at the top of the path that leads up the valley wall on the right flank about 50 yards back from the top. And position your sniper at the head of the bridge just behind this point and wait. All the enemy troops escorting the tank will run up this hill and get shot like lemmings. Im glad I stumbled on this trick as this is the only way I could have got through this level as directly shooting it out with enemy is nearly impossible.
BTW-Thanks for the link on game design.
“Squad 3 should be a lone sniper. As soon as the mission starts, move squads 1 and 3 over to the canyon on the left flank and use squad 2 to move through the one on the right flank. After you take out the opposing forces on the ridges, position your men on the side(s) of the canyons and simply rain down the hell on those T series tanks. Make sure your squad on the right canyon take up positions overlooking the pathway up from the gorge or they will me taken out by enemy infantry looking for cover from the onslaught. Watch out, as some may even try to flank you on the right side by taking the long way across behind the hill on that side. A good place to have your sniper is on the right side, where the bridge starts. Put squad 1 on the right side, farther ahead of the bridge, on a little ‘ledge’ like flat surface. They’ll get good vision on the whole of the advancing armour/infantry and can do so while lying down making them almost impervious to enemy fire. Those AKs aren’t gonna do jack to them.”

RE: favorite pc games
I wanted to avoid talking about FPSs, but I have to say that Ghost Recon is fantastic. The graphic quality of the backround and the realism of the men and the perspective is perfect. I look forward to doing more in this series. Ive got op flashpoint also, but some glitches in my computer prevent me from running that game for the moment. I finally got a comp and am just starting out with pc games. Age of Empires is good (by default). I was very disapointed with Medieval-Total War, the stratigy part of the game where you build stuff and move troops is stupid to the point of being annoying. I want to try other good stratagy games like Civilization II.
Icarus- In january I should have internet, so Ill challange you to a shootout then. Im “training” by trying to do Ghost Recon on elite level, not sure Ill even make it through the level where the tanks move through that valley.
