RE: a stupid question but are

Italy does have its own tank, I cant remember what its called. I havent heard much about it and am curious how it rates against other tanks like the leopard or de clerk. Italys aermacchi makes some outstanding trainers that have got overlooked because of “hawk mania” that seems to have gripped the world (like many on this forum). The MB-339 I believe is equal to the hawk as far as systems and better as far as manueverability. The S-211 is a light trainer that has also been overlooked. The M-346 looks as though it may hold promise as a crossover between primary and advanced training. Heres a link for aermacchi to view these three trainers: http://www.aermacchi.com Italy has also made a good attack helicopter called the mongoose that hasnt seen as much success as it should have. Italy has also designed some good diesel subs that havent seen export success. Overall I have to agree that Italian arms have been greatly overlooked.

    RE: Mortars

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-07-02 AT 04:58 AM (GMT)]It was done Garry, infact these ballistic satalite guns were designed by the same guy who designed the hussein gun. The circuitry in the satalite shells were embedded in acrylic plastic to withstand the g-shock. The gun was designed by gun expert Gerald Bull who was killed by the isrealis for not heeding the advise to get out of the hussein gun bussiness (Maybe you saw this on discovery channel and made a subconcience connection). I personally dont think it would have worked to have multiple charges detonating in succesion simply because of all the empty space behind the charge that would cause danerous preasure variations. Im really surprised a small version of this idea was never tested before the building of the actual full size gun. Heres a link on Gerald Bull:

    RE: Sociological question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-07-02 AT 00:32 AM (GMT)]Has anyone here actually seen germans at work? They look like theyve taken a handfull of downers and probably take about 6 or 7 coffee breaks throughout the day. Is this some kind of optical illusion? I mean, when no ones looking, do they rush around and get everything done? I honestly would like to know how the germans have such a efficient society when they work like that.

RE: Kyoto Accord. Who has sign

Ive said it before on this forum that the kyoto treaty is a joke, it has nothing to do with pollution and everything to do with limiting industrial capacity (its an economic ploy). But rather than rehash that arguement, is there anyone here that thinks natural gas is a grossly under used, wasted (you can watch it burn off at any refinery or oil derek). Here in southern california, public buses use natural gas. If this were imitated in developing countrys where public transport is under maintained and belches huge levels of smog, now then we would be accomplishing something.

    RE: Mortars

Hey Puff, Could you tell me how accurate you got with your mortor? Did you have to measure degrees and asimuth with the stand? Do you know what the insurgents used in namibia(before it was called namibia) for mortors back in the 80s? Im guessing it had to be russian, Ive heard they used it to great affect, to the point that the amoured vehicles had to take off at 50 mph to keep from being blasted.

    RE: Merkava IV unveiled today

The MerkavaIV looks more compact than earlier merkavas. Is the engine still in the front? The front part of the tank looks shorter. Could be that its taller which would make it look shorter.

RE: Argentina may have left but here’s a lil somet

Theyre really not a soccar team are they? If they are, is there a webpage that tells more about them if they are an actual team? Ive always thought soccar is the most mindless sport in the world (human pinball), but these ladys could change all that for me.

    RE: Merkava IV unveiled today

Ive wondered that myself Garry, dont artillery all use rifled barrels? You would think that most countrys would stick with shaped charge warheads, especially since you have all these muliple charge rounds to deactivate active armour. I would think that high velocity saboted rounds lose their effectiveness at greater range in both velocity and accuraccy.
