Thailand has a carrier. They use Harriers.

If we take the logic of this article, then all the rockets in the US, Russian and UK inventory have evolved from the german V-2. Does that mean that the US, UK and Russia stole the rocket technology from Germany?

India has already approached the British government regarding the Invincible and its Harriers. However, apart from this nothing much is avaliable about any possible purchase.

The Argentians have the S-2 Tracker and the French Super Etendard. They would therefore like a carrier with catapults and the size of the Foch. I doubt that the Argentians would buy HMS Invincible. The only countries that would buy the Invincible are those which already operate Harriers. That narrows down the likely buyers to Spain, Italy, Thailand and India. I remember reading that India had shown interest in buying the Invincible and Harriers.

The Tejas will most likely be sold to countries which can’t afford or don’t have access to american or western technology.
The Gripen uses a licenced version of the GE F404 engine. It therefore needs US approval before selling it.

From the news reports, India is buying 12 MiG-29k’s with the Groshkov. I won’t be suprised they buy Rafale’s later. The 12 MiG-29k’s might just be to satisfy the Russian’s and close the deal soon.
The ADS is actually a smaller non nuclear version of the Charles de Gaulle. It originally had a catapult launch system which was modified by the Indian Naval Design Bureau to STOBAR ops. Indian had initally intended to use catpults purchased from the US, but it later changed to STOBAR.

The Gripen would make an excellent candidate for a carrier based aircraft. However, there isn’t a large market for it. Apart from Brazil and India, there isn’t anyone else who would buy it. Anyway, India is already working on the Naval LCA which is in the design state. It will probably enter service around 2012-2015. This further reduces the market to only Brazil unless more countries buy carriers and they can’t afford or buy the JSF.
