The sonar return reminds me of a North American Fury.

Were any lost in the same area?

I spent a lot of the weekends in the early 90’s with Barry Coran and his offsider as I lived on the base at the time. From what I remember of the Propellor is that Barry and Iain had found it on a property near Oakey (????) and that it was being used as a clothes hoist. Two blades concreted in the ground and the other blades had holes driled in them for the clothes line to pass through. Barry repaired the blades using fibreglass and putty. I assume that this is the prop still fitted.

A9-300 was only scrapped a couple of years ago along with the TAP-3s.

    We will be receiving A8-134.

Currently making room in the main SAAM hangar for its arrival.

This photo is an example of many amongst our Squadrons.

Some are even hanging within the HQ’s and you have to look really carefully to find ‘The Moon’.

I believe this photo was taken in the early 90’s, if it is the one we know of.

    G’day All,
The wing on the Mk1 at the South Australian Aviation Museum is all wood, outboard of the engines and metal clad with wood in the Centre Section.
The Outboard sections are pinned to the Centre Section with 1in Dia pins.
This was a necessity due to the size of the project and the size of the building in which it was originally house.

    Good point Bruce.
It is an FB31…Typo on my part.

Surely they would have to be very similar?

    Macca,
there were a few Meteors based in Edinburgh. Here is an example:

Photographer unknown. Apparently taken in 1957.
Someone else maybe able to confirm.
Have you tried the ADF-Serials website?

The cockpit we have is A77-851.
However, I would like to trace any of the build I.D. numbers if possible.
The original I.D. plates are long gone.

Thanks. I will try those areas, however from previous experience, anything painted on removable panels is no guarantee.
    So far I have seen A77-851, 885, and 854.

    Pictures to follow.
I’m trying to reset the canopy rails at the moment and replace missing parts.
