Is there a chance Boeing might make an announcement on the 747ADV at Le Bourget? There has been a lot of noise from various sources who believe Boeing will in fact move forward with this design. CX’s future procurement program could likely see them become the aircraft’s launch customer since they have never really expressed any interests in the A380. Everyone predicts that Airbus might steal the show but I have a feeling Boeing has a few tricks up its sleeves! Cheers!

It took me a while to find it but CVW-11 will be attached to USS Ronald Reagan for its first cruise to begin shortly. The ship os presently at sea to complete its deck operations certification. Cheers!

Very interesting article indeed. It just goes to prove that Boeing will go to any length to conduct business!

Here’s an interesting article on the EADS standpoint.

It’s an updated version of the 60s TV show, as Kovy said, but a comic book series called Les Chevaliers du Ciel. The main characters were named Tanguy and Laverdure and both flew Mirage III. I remember reading a couple of them and I thought they were quite decent. I hope the movie will just as good!

Propaganda for the French Air Force or not, it will worth seeing just for the aerial footage alone! And if the possibilities of having a wingman like her were real, I’d want to fly everyday!

As far as US and British naval aviation goes, the JSF IS the future…….

True but for how long! With recent budget cuts and ever mounting costs on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, how until the budgetary axe falls on the JSF program. Could there be a chance the JSF never sees the light of day?

Everyone talks about what could happen if both Iran and North Korea’s nuclear program weren’t terminated and how there could be a nuclear exchange between the US and either Iran or North Korea. Nuclear weapons have been a great deterrent for the last sixty years, which has in a way, shielded us from the unthinkable. I don’t think that anyone would want to ever see another atomic weapon be used on a city. The results were horrifying!
However, I really don’t think the United States and the rest of the world shouldn’t worry about Iran and North Korea. Iran wants to have a few warheads because its government believes that Israel would launch a preemptive strike. Iran has just evened out the playing field if they indeed have a few warheads at their disposal. North Korea’s leader, as paranoid as he may be, wanted to make sure that the US would never make a move north of the 38th parralel. Having a couple of warheads has allowed him to think he has a protective cushion to protect himself from the “evil” American empire. In all of this, I am pretty sure the American military would be able to remove these weapons with surgical strikes against the depots where such weapons would be kept. A B-2, I imagine, would have no problems doing this during one quick hop beginning in Guam and finishing in Diego Garcia.
On the other hand, this is what everyone should really be afraid. There have been rumors that several nuclear warheads disappeared from several Russian bases and were never recovered (At least, that was the last I heard from this situation). What does that mean! In my humble opinion, someone with enough money could procure the ultimate weapon in terrorism. And what really freaks me out is the man that only wants the one weapon, not someone who is developing an entire arsenal! Cheers!

Some of the pictures included in the link posted by Terran really put the size difference between the American and French aircraft carrier.
The article posted on the USN website presented a positive response to the exchange program between the two crews. The French were impressed by the Eisenhower’s size (Then again who wouldn’t be) while the American group sent aboard the de Gaulle were impressed by the level of professionalism displayed by the French. If only the two gorvernments coulod get along as their armed forces do!

Boeing is having a very good year thus far and I hope it continues. I could see a large war to win contracts develop over the next few years between the two major aircraft manufacturer. It will make for interesting threads as the rumors come closer to reality and as contract talks are finalized!

It’s good to see the USN and the Marine Nationale work together to be able to operate in unison. I hope there will be amore information available on this exercise to see how everyone performed.
Were the American and French assets the only ones conducting air operations or was the Spanish navy involved as well with their Harriers? Did the British throw in some of their fighters as well or did they send in other aircraft!

Ja, thanks for the pics, they are impressive looking beasts. Cheers!
It will be interesting to see what design the USN will eventually decide upon. In the mean time, we have one more Nimitz-class carrier to look forward too.
As to the second French aircraft carrier, wasn’t it decided to build this vessel with a conventional powerplant over a nuclear reactor due to budgetary reasons? If so, I would imagine that the Marine Nationale would have the funds necessary to purchace a few more Hawkeyes and a few more Rafales. Maybe they could fund the defunct Rafale BM, which I thought was a good idea.

What an incredible game this was. Friends of mine were adament that Milan was easily walk away with the trophy. I must admit they did so during the first half but what a comeback. I have never seen the tide shift so drastically in such a short amount of time.
Hats off to the boys from Liverpool! Way to persevere and never loose hope! They are true champions!
