How much work would it be to re-equip the entire fleet with actual Hose and Drogue system on centreline boom?

That figure of 200 upgrades is an old one (2000?), & was never realistic. It was more of a “what we’d like to do if it was possible” number. Ukraine doesn’t have the money to operate 200, even if the upgrade was free. The most recent reports (JDW & Flight, this year – can’t find the references right now), quoting Ukrainian official sources, talk of much smaller numbers, less than 100 (60?). A number of Su-27s are also to be upgraded. The current plan, unlike the previous one, actually looks achievable, though that’s no guarantee it will be achieved.

If this is the case, then what will happen to the remaining aircraft which will not receive an upgrade?

Depends on what do you call better. An imagination of F-23 outperforming F-22 in all aspects only because it is pretty is…. let us say…. naeive. The F-23 would surely have been a bit stealthier. Faster.. And less manoeuvrable. So much for the knowns.

I wouldn’t compare the two aircraft in terms of the way they look. My question was meant to engage a conversation on what parameters were used by the US government to determine which aircraft was superior. Now, it is my understanding that the F-22 was selected, in part, simply because it was a cheaper machine to maintain (I can’t back that claim because I can’t remember where I read this but I will try to find it again).
In terms of stealth characteristics, the YF-23 was the better of the two and I really would have liked to have seen the results of the analysis. As to saying that the Black Widow was a faster aircraft, it might have been possible but no one can say for sure. Bottom line, I strongly believe the two machines in question were incredibly capable, but again, which one was the most capable of the two, the YF-23 or the now fully developed F-22 Raptor?

To concede the 787 market would be a big mistake for Airbus. They need to come up with a viable aircraft which can compete against the T7 and the 787 even that means that they should design an primary aircraft followed by several variants, one of which will compete with the 787 and another that can compete with the T7.

my all time favorite mirage…. 🙂

The Mirage IV is an incredible machine and I remember seeing one execute a rocket-assisted take-off at Orange-Caritat when I was about twelve or thirteen and I have to say that it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Incredible noise and incredible performance from such a large aircraft.

For me however, my favorite Dassault product would have to be the Mirage F1, an aircraft my cousin flew for nine years. He never transitioned to the Mirage 2000, pulled out and went on to become a instructor pilot at a small aerodrome in the south of France. It looked incredible both on the ground and in the air and was incredible as a recon machine. Or so my cousin says!

It was mentioned that the Ukraine still operated somewhere between 230 and 240 Mig-29s which were beginning to run long in the tooth. Not so much in terms of airframe usage but rather in terms of avionics fit. At this stage, I imagine the easiest thing to do would be to contract either IAI or EADS to complete various upgrades to make these aircraft meet NATO standards if the Ukraine was to eventually join the organization.
However, in the Su-27s case, I would imagine that they would have to contract a company in Russia in order to have these aircraft brought up to the SM standard. But what about all the Fencers and Frogfoots? What should they do with these machines?
But as I mentioned above, the Ukraine uses 230 to 240 Mig-29s of which only two hundrd would be upgraded. What will happen to the remainign fighters? Will they be sold on the used market to Poland, for example, or will they be scrapped and destroyed?

Actually, the scene where Brian accidentally finds Stewie shaving his behind was quiet funny.

Actually, I was mistaken when I said that the pictures I found earlier represented the aircraft during the final stages of its first flight. This aircraft has been flown several times as this picture depicts it. As you can see, the aircraft executed its first flight while still in primer.

    My apologies for the mistake.

No. EADS did have a A310 fitted with fefuelling boom for ‘proof of concept’. Perhaps thats what you were thinking of?

Btw Great photos guys i thought the first time i saw a photo of an RAAF A330 it would be ex factory in primer. Good work.

There were a couple of pics of this aircraft in primer released a few weeks ago. I’ll see if I can track it down.

My only question, at this point is this. Now that the aircraft had completed its first test flight, I imagine it will make the transit flight to Sydney where it will receive its refuelling kit. How long until do we actually see an aircraft in full kit and when can we expect a unit to achieve IOC?

Here is another I found a little later. I imagine this picture was taken when the aircraft completed it’s first flight.

Peter and the familly locked themselves into a panic room during a home invasion and while Meagan is being held captive by the burglars after she is thrown down the vents to run for help. But while the rest of the familly waits for help, Peter begins to explain the origins of the name Griffin.
It’s too long to explain in great detail, but I would imagine it will be released in England shortly. But believe me when I say that it was very funny!

Does anyone know what the price of the wii is likely to be on release?

I’ve heard anywhere from three to four hundred dollars right now for us in Canada. But that is subject to change. At this point, we haven’t heard anything concrete about this system here in cold country but as soon as I hear anything, I will let you guys know what they have decided on the price front. Cheers!
