You’ve to consider the fact that PS3 is coming with a blue ray drive as well as a integerated HDD. Both of which (HD DVD in MS’s case) are optional on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and if bought will increase the aggregate cost of the console.
PS3 is a bargain at its current prices for the functionality its offering and since I already own a PSP and a PS2 I’d prefer PS3 over any other next gen console :).

That’s what I’ve been saying to a lot of people but they still tend to think the X360 is the better platform. I guess we will all have to wait and see what happens when the PS3 is finally released.

That’s a great site you have there PBAR.

I’ve always loved the B-1. I find it to be a sexy machine and very capable to boot. Alien with an Attitude and Spectre being my favorite aircraft. For many years the B-1 has been under scrutiny by the US government to see if they could maybe retire an aircraft which they viewed as being too costly to operate. However, I was happy to see the Bone community acquit themselves with great efficiency when OIF and OEF were initiated. I hope to see the B-1 for a long time to come.
I’ve always heard that the B-1 hadn’t been used in ODS due to its lack of conventional weapons capability. Although at the time, the USAF was already in the process of getting its B-1 fleet compatible with conventional weapons.

So with all this rumor of EADS actually thinking of doing a major redesign on the aircraft, when will we find out if they have gone forward with such plans? I really don’t think they can delay any longer if they want to keep a reasonable in-service date.

    Still going strong, Shadow.

I’m mildly bemused that you find them a “really odd” source, though.

Actually Grey, I confused them for a television channel here in North America called Speed Channel which had a penchant to aviation matter up until a couple of years ago when they changed their format and now deal only in motorsport racing. They use to report on such matters as discussed in this thread but no longer. This is why I said I found them an odd source. I didn’t realize there was another site which used the name Speednews. My apologies! 🙂

Halo 3 will be outstanding from a visual standpoint. Everything you see in the game will actually be rendered this time. For example, if you see a city in the background, a bunch of skyscrapers and whatnot, guess what? You can (if you want to waste the time) actually walk out there and mess around in the city! That’s awesome. And I still can’t get over the detail in the preview trailer. Given that it was done in real-time using the in-game graphics engine, DAMN.

I was saddened to hear that Halo 3 is only available for the X360. I hope that the rights will one day be available for the PS3!

I never said you shouldn’t get a PlayStation 3. It will be a nice console if you have the funds for it, and if you have the right TV. You just happen to be in that select group.

I just think that the Wii offers things you cannot get anywhere else, and that people who might have snubbed Nintendo through the GameCube and maybe even N64 days should reconsider and give it a try.

You’re allowed to own more than one console. I own a GameCube and PS2 right now, and I’ve been very happy with both of them.

The problem is that anyother console aside from the X360 and the PS3 are automatically forgotten as soon as you start talking about those two. After all, they are the benchmark in this industry. I am very fortunate to be working for the company I work for. Otherwise, like many of you, I would have to wait until I had saved a great deal of money to be able to afford either one of them and the television I wish to have.

SOC, the Sony I am Looking to buy is just a regular rear projection Grand Wega. Nothing fancy but I will say that it is just about the best television you can buy without going into the higher end Plasma screens. I will run me about thirty-five hundred Canadian although I might be able to get it for a little cheaper if I buy the model on display at work.

A slightly different slant on the same story, from a highly respected and “neutral” source within the industry:

AIRBUS is expected in mid-2006 to announce revamped A350 Family comprising three versions (A350-800, -900 and -1000) with all-new wider fuselage, larger all-composite wing, faster cruise speed and more powerful engines; it says “the design timetable is open until this summer” and no final decisions have been made. MERRILL LYNCH believes Airbus will launch all-new A350 that will leap-frog the 787, and upgraded EADS stock to buy from neutral.” SPEEDNEWS 12 May 2006.

The final sentence there is rather interesting, is it not?

That is a really intersting quote and the source is really odd. I really didn’t know Speednews still dwelled in aerospace matters.

I have to agree with you. I don’t think I had laughed so hard in a long time when I saw that. 😀
