    Deano,

If you like the PSS DH8C, have you tried the majestic DH8C?

It costs a lot, but well worth it : http://www.majesticsoftware.com/c/portal_public/layout?p_l_id=1.2&p_p_id=54&p_p_action=0&p_p_state=maximized&p_p_mode=view&_54_node_id=15&_54_page_title=DashQthree

Have a read through the features, it’s incredibly realisitc!

Flown it for a week now and it’s a step up from the PSS Dash 8 300…

    Can’t keep my hands of it :dev2: 😀 !

    Regards,
    Martyn.

Haha, my system matches those (unofficial) requirements!

Dual processor, PCI Ex grx card, plenty of RAM, hefty power supply…. only thing lackin will be the money to buy FS10 😮 …

And it was less that £2k :p

    franczola,

Load up your FS and go into the ‘display’ settings.

Then go to the hardware page, and increase the ‘Global Max Texture’ (or something like that) slider at the bottom to full. That will amost indefinately make your aircraft look 100% quality.

For scenery, it’s recommended you get addon ground textures (if flying in the UK use Just Flight’s VFR Scenery) and then in the ‘Display – scenery’ settings page on FS, turn off autogen. This will allow faster loading of surrounding scenery areas and allow them to produce higher quality results.

Finally, set ‘Terrain Texture Size’ to high (scenery settings), flitering to tri-linear (hardware settings), and MIP-Mapping to 6 or higher (hardware settings).

Your graphics card should be able to cope with them and produce frames of around 15-30 depending on various things.

Also if using 3D clouds, turn them to 50% – there isn’t too much difference between 100% density and 50% density, but the latter will result in better frames. Or you can turn them off…

Hope that helps, let me know the results and I may be able to offer further advice.

    Martyn (seasoned FS settings messer-arounder 😀 )

Not too sure about Freeware scenery, i’m sure if you search AVSIM/Surclaro you will find some good free scenery though.

But, if you have a spare £12-15 you may want to invest in the SimWings scenery…. it’s 5 stars, absolutely amazing. 😀

Heres one or two from me.

Flight was Isle of Man to Liverpool, online using VATSIM. Was accompanied by a fellow EuroManx Virtual member “EMX6″… who decided he wanted to park up inside the maintanence hangar upon arrival 😀 . Must have been a bad landing…

Then on return to Ronaldsway, Isle of Man, another EMX pilot captured me (EMX001) landing on VATSIM.

Also, check out the comparison, FS to real world OE-HBC. FS addon aircraft are getting more realistic by the day!!

    😮 i’m joining the air cadets!!! :p .

Over here on fraggle rock (Isle of Man), we get a few spotters congregating on a nice day, over by the flying club. Most of them are either PPL holders, just out for a days picture taking, and the select few are those that want to be PPL holders.

A few of them occasionally take a few callsigns down, but believe me from first hand experience (from my ‘spotting’ days), those notes mean nothing once you return to the comfort of your own home! And they get folder over and used as shopping lists or lost in the eternal realm of the sofa-cushion 😀

Trinny, maybe those who declined your very generous offer probably just wern’t expecting it, as said above. Because being offered a free jolly is not as common nowadays as it was in the past, I guess most people have adapted to becoming grounded as a spotter.

    Anyhooo…. back to my book :dev2: …

    Hi there,

I have only flown that model a few times, or attempted to anyway! I can’t remember if it is that aircraft or another… but there may be a switch on the ovhd somewhere that turns on the autopilot functionality before you can engage the A/P itself. Or is that the RFP 747-200? 😀

    I’ll stick to me Dash 8’s 😎 …

Bigjet – great pics of MABR there! I see the real MABR weekly as it arrives on the IOM from LGW. Lovely aircraft. Anyone got any FS pics of G-MIMA?

VATSIM.net is the main network site, it has divisions throughout the world. You need to join the network first then you can join the division closest to you where you would like to fly/control online (e.g. for me VATSIM-UK).

Go to http://www.vatsim.net and register there with your full name. It takes up to 2/3 days to complete the registration, so be patient. After you get your ID and password (both 6 digit numbers) you can join the VATSIM-UK division at http://www.vatsim-uk.org .

Joining VATSIM-UK is simple and only takes around a day. You will not need a new user or password for VATSIM-UK as they get their data from the main network database.

Once you are a member of VATSIM and VATSIM-UK Division, simply install your connection client (Squawkbox 3/FS INN (more details on the ‘New Pilots’ section of the vatsim-uk site)) then load up your FS, start Sqauwkbox3/FS INN and connect to the vatsim-uk network.

If want me to explain it further you have me on MSN Warren, see you around!

    May well be 4 disks…

Also, by the limited screen shots they have published, I think they are keeping something secret, a big feature that they have kept quiet :diablo: .

They do it every year… any guesses on what it could be? Maybe they did decide to implement that idea from post in a previous topic of ‘flying animals’ after all …. 😀 :p
