Had one not so long back.I was told by an ex Shackleton crew that it was for plotting sonar buoys on different frequencies for getting a fix on by cross referencing the signals.
A quick update, thanks to our colleagues on 57Rescue, we now have a dual axis autopilot gyro (rudder/aileron). We just got this direct from Canada and we’d like to extend our thanks to Peter (mod) and Karl for sorting this out for us. Cheer guys :very_drunk:

Just picked up an air tank for the brake and landing lamp systems today from the Newark Aerojumble. As always a friendly show and a particular highlight was having a look inside the Avro Ashton thanks TO for the guided tour :eagerness:)
If anyone has another air tank to go along with the one below, please bear us in mind as we need 2

I’m sure I was told a P51 crashed at Cradge Bank near Crowland…not that far from Werrington…it came down very near a railway line.

WV-903… The Stirling main wheel tyres are AH 2233 ,26.5″x 21″.
Five foot….Stirling….a couple came down in the sea not far from there……

There is a recruitment film called Combat America presented by Clarke Gable based at Polebrook…some nice footage of the surrounding villages and airbase.
On the end of the chutes were clips that held cloth bags for the spent links on some turrets……
