And the fact that the RAFM scrapped some of these remains doesn’t count then?
🙁
Cees

Here here Cees at least `souvenier hunters` would regard even the tiniest scrap with reverence and treasure it. I can`t understand the `well if we don`t need it no one else should have it` mentality, and to send it to a smelters….. is outrageous.

the Stirling bits in the beds scrapyard were from the Mickle Fell example.

What !!! what`s the point in recovering stuff to scrap it? should at least offer them to museums. If it`s a question of `usefulness` why not leave this stuff in situ?

Would love to see it ……only my wife had just returned to the room after going awol for `Dig 1940` and my suggested viewing was met by a stare and stoney silence.

Not wishing to deviate from the thread..but a great place to display any `spare` crash bits from the HE111 (please ignore the `Urchins`.

Sorry Mackeral saw `Steve` on I.O.W and guessed wrong…Interesting programme tonight..where in Somerset was it?,and which `local museum` will be displaying bits?
Our Local Railway museum `Midsomer Norton` has an excellent Pillbox crammed with stuff,I`m sure they would be interested in and bits to display.Anyone know what happened to the German Forage Cap from the ME110 crash in Haydon..owned by Kate Whitcombe of Kilmersdon?

The Stirling Fuselage sections held in Museums ie Vraux and Deelen have no floor sections but would be relatively simple to construct compared to the nose section forward of the main spar.It would however be nice to display these original bits along with the RAFM sections, next to a full repro…not a question of `if` but `when`.,
